I have the HP+ on my Brembos, and they only squeal in reverse for me. When I had other HP+ in my stock wrx calipers, they squeaked much more during normal driving than these. Maybe once I go to the track the noise will go up, but I already bedded them in and they sound quiet as stock

What kind of CRC Disc Quiet did you use; there is one meant for shimmed pads and one that you shouldn't use on shimmed pads?

Check the back carefully, it states it there if you can't use it. I wonder if that would be an issue on shimmed pads causing noise.

I used the CRC Disc Quiet that you spray on like spray-paint. Works great on my Ferodo 2500's, I'd say just as quiet as stock and has been for over 2 months & 2 Auto-X's.

If the squeeking is at low speeds/light pedal effort, and really high-pitched. It is most likely a shim/brake quiet issue. If you are sure you have everything on there correct then it could be the just the pad, or old rotor. But I can't really speak on the latter.

My pads are brand new with new rotors, used the shims and all.. Still they scream, I think its just a Hawk + issue I know for a fact the Ferodo are just quieter..

Seriously, I love my HP+ pads because they stop the car dang hard and dust less than stock. They are noisy until heated up.....makes me drive faster and brake harder in traffic in an attempt to shut them up! I don't care....all the good mods make noise....
Less dust than stock... are you sure they are HP+... my rims go from gold to black within 2 days of the carwash.

When they heat up and if I am doing aggressive braking no prob a light squeal.. But stopping at a light and driving around town I just see people looking at my like damn he needs some brakes from 20mph - 0 forget about it these things are crazy loud... So its not just you its the pads.. But with that said they stop the car on a dime, once they heat up they are so aggressive i love them. So I am gonna take the noise trade offs i guess you know what can you do... Or maybe go to a Ferodo 2500 not sure if they are quiet or not?/

I have the 2500's, mine are absolutely silent....I wish they would make some noise.

I purchased some HP+ pads per a recommendation/helluva deal. Mind you, I'm a car n00b, but I'm learning. I love them and think it's night and day compared to stockers. Significantly more brake dust, obnoxiously loud, but stop a hell of a lot better than the stock pads. After a few months, I don't really notice the squealing any more, until someone tells me I need new pads of course.

SOLVED!

So I had used some CRC Disc brake quiet originally, this stuff:

I appplied it all over my pads, shims, etc, and its a tacky goo that eventually hardens up. Well long story short after a few autocrosses, I decided to take my wheels off. Long story short, this stuff looks like it had been lit on fire, and was like "bubbled" fizzed up all over my brake pads/shims. It had pretty much fused one of my shims to the back of the pad, which I had to try off with a flathead screwdriver.

I then proceeded to take all the non-sticky but stuck onto my caliper rubbery like red stuff off. This was pretty much a manual process, and there's still a small amount still on there. I fully cleaned my pads, calipers, and removed all shims.

This time around I had bought some CRC Synthetic Brake & Caliper grease.

This stuff:

I did not use any shims.
I applied it fully to the back of all pads, alone with any metal contact points of the metal bracket that holds the pads in. This includes where the pins rotate on the metal bracket, (Rotate + no grease = squeak) and where the bracket pushes down ontop of the caliper. This grease includes a brush built into the cap which was nice and made it very easy for application.

It's been over a week now, and my Hawk HP+ pads are aboslutely silent. I've beeded them in "again", and they're running GREAT so far. No noise at all! (and it's been 80-90 degrees here everyday for the last week)

My theory is that the red stuff hardens from a tacky goo into well, rubbery like material. The synthetic grease though remains, well, as a grease. Therefore, it's always "gooey" and provides for better lubrication. (preventing squeak)

I highly suggest any of you who had brake pad squeaking problems to try this grease out!

I too have HP+. They provide some sort of grease in the box. I used it w/ the shims. Greased up all moving parts, similar to what is described above. I am really not sure what the job of the shims is though. But hey if its there might as well put them in.

My experiences is that they were dead silent for about first 300 miles post bed-in. Then they developed a slight squeal at light brake application. A few hard stops and then its good for a while.

Acejam2k:
Now I have a question on the CRC stuff. Do you feel that is what has solved or the fact that you bedded in the pads?
In my case I think its the bedding in part that cures it.
Also, do you think the noise will come back with time?

Thats good news, I'm about to try some of that stuff.

My DS2500's squeal like crazy. I thought it was only a cold weather thing, but they still squeal even in 80+F heat.

Well, even before using the synthetic grease, I bedded in the pads several times, and even did a number of autocrosses on them, they were definitely bedded in. (I managed to get my rotors to turn purple from heat/gasses)

Hopefully the noise won't come back, but it's been just over a week, and I only heard 1 slight split second squeak yesterday, which has not come back. This is a huge improvement than before, as previously my breaks would squeak when not even using them!

My theory is that since the grease is synthetic, it allows for higher temperatures. It's also a true "grease", and not a tacky goo that then hardens into a rubbery goo stuff. Squeaking is caused by vibrations, therefore I figure taking out the metal shims will only help.

Don't forget that the CRC stuff you first used is not meant to be used with pads that require shims. Not sure if that was the source of your problem.

I use the shims with my Ferodo 2500's with the CRC spray stuff that can be used with shimmed pads - they have always been silent. -> they weren't without the shims on the rears with the same CRC stuff. They screeched like crazy until I put the shims back on.
