Default SOLD: (MD) - Ground Control / Koni coilovers

This is my hybrid coilover setup for 2005+ STI's. The front struts are custom-built to order by Ground Control. The rear struts are Koni inserts in WRX housings with Ground Control coilover sleeves. You can see I left the stock rear spring perches in place so that I could switch back to the stock rear springs during the winter and still run the awesome Koni struts back there.

My chosen springs for the coilovers were 315lb/in, 9" long fronts and 250lb/in, 8" long rears. I also have two sets of 350lb/in 7" long springs that I'll include. You'll need the shorter springs if you'd like to lower the car much and the firmer rear springs will help the car rotate. Mix-and-match as you please, there are lots of options here!

Since I work from home, the front coilovers have less than a thousand miles on them. They're practically brand new. The rears have been on my car a bit longer and probably have 5000 miles. All Koni and Ground Control products come with a lifetime warranty and are pretty good about honoring it.

The rear tophats aren't included, sorry. I forgot to take them off prior to the picture.

I autocrossed on this setup just once and had the fastest time on street tires. I was happy with the setup, but I'm going to be evaluating a new coilover package soon and need to make room (and funds). If not for this opportunity, I would be happily continuing to use these coilovers.

I'm looking for $1200 for everything. Two individuals have already expressed interest in this prior to me writing this ad, so they have dibs, but PM me if you're interested. I'll include two Koni adjustment knobs and a spanner wrench.

PayPal OK, local pickup OK. Thank you for looking.

For those who do not want the extra springs, pick the ones you want and I'll let the combination go for $1100. My favorite combination was 350lb/in front, 250lb/in rear.

Interesting setup, looks like you have definitely put some time and effort into the research of this. I was wondering how much clearance it allows you in the rear with the WRX strut housings. About how much lowering are the stiffer springs giving you? I'm looking for something thats less extreme than my current RCE yellows. Thanks and take care.

Bump for you and good luck with this sale.

I have the rear GC spring perches as low as they'll go without cutting away the stock perch, and that was perhaps 3/4 of an inch lower than stock. It wasn't too much of a drop. They could be raised 3/4 of an inch from there or, with the factory perch cut away, go at least another inch lower. (Hint: you could do this and run the 9" springs back there.)

Clearance for wide tires is excellent in the rear due to the factory style strut. They are the same size/shape/diameter as the stock STI struts, I believe. (Any differences in shape were invisible to my eye.)

So, there's lots of options with this setup. For those not wanting to think about it, I'll just ship it as I ran it (including setting the dampers). For $1100, this is a FAR better option than the other budget coilovers in this price range. Everything has a lifetime warranty and is made from competition-level parts.

Both are single adjustable. The fronts are gas pressure struts custom valved for Ground Control. They are thought to be based on 1198's, not 8610's, due to the gas pressure design. I have a dyno of the valving here:

The rear struts are 8610's and thus are purely hydrolic. I found a dyno for these online, too:

Ground Control makes a full custom-valved coilover strut for the rear, too, but my 8610's in WRX housings have more adjustability in the valving. This combination that I've put together will work with nearly any rate spring you can imagine.

stretch, still available?? Do you have any pictures of them mounted on your car (with either set of springs)?

I'm assuming you ran pretty close to stock height.

Also, what were you running / what would you recommend for tops? Did you have plates on all 4?

VERY VERY interested, as it looks like the upcoming TiC coilovers may be out of my price range...

Best way to get me is via pm.

would you be interesting in trading me your set up for my Stance Coilovers with <100 miles on them? They are worth 1500, but I wouldn't mind an even trade. I really want your set up, haha

I'm not interested in trading, sorry. I don't have any use for the Stance coilovers. If it were the summer and I had many warm months ahead, I'd do the trade just to test them out and post a review (on the assumption that I'd be able to sell them again and not lose money), but with winter coming I know I won't have the time.

Thanks for the offer though!
