Default Aaaannnnddd we have a tick -_-

I picked up my first subaru at the end of March. It's a 2017 CWP limited sti and the GM at the dealership put 648 miles on it but there were no other white limiteds in a 1000 mile radius that they could get me in a timely fashion so I took the hit after they reassured me that the person driving it treated it like a baby. I now have 2000 miles on it and have been noticing a light tick at idle that I can only hear outside the car and it stops when I push the clutch in. I'm assuming this is the same throw out bearing issue as in past years?? I didn't abuse it between the 650 I got it with and 1000. At least not enough for it to develop any sort of ticking.

It's not just noisy Subaru injectors or valves? Have you been checking your oil level?

It's a fuel injected motor. It's probably injector or valve tick.

Not to mention Subaru uses solid roller cams. My Subaru makes a load of valve train noise. I wouldn't sweat it til she goes boom. In the meantime I would highly recommend that you start sending oil samples to blackstone labs for analysis, this will give you the heads up about issues before the boom.

As related, we all have ticks, but . . . they don't stop cause we depress our clutch . . .

The ticks get louder if you decide to change to a bigger crosspipe on the stock exhaust manifold. The sound is normal on a boxer 4. The old vw's made the same sound.

That's my concern and exactly why I'm pretty sure it's the throw out bearing issue some other people had. It really only started right after she was broken in and it only happens when the clutch is in. I'm taking it back to the dealership sometime this week so I'll post an update then...
