Default Need advice on DOM 1.5 XTR

Hi , Is there anyone in the forums 2015 STI model running DOM 1.5 XTR without upgrade engine internals? How reliable and how far it goes? How many mile it take you guys to to have short block replace.

From what i have searched and been advised won't recommended without getting engine internals upgrade before replacing w/bigger Turbo.

Anyone can share an idea will be appreciate.

I don't personally run an aftermarket turbo, but I believe there are several members on here with DOM 1.5 and similar turbos running on stock internals without an issue.

We have ran them in a number of stock engine cars without issue. We tend to leave them in the 375WHP range on 93 pump gas. You should be able to get a good amount of miles out of it with a solid tune.

I have a 2.5 on stock internals and not pushing hard at all.

My tuner said once you go over 350 on stock internals it is kind of a crap shoot on how nicely your engine will play.

Thank you and Thank you CNY_STI & BRENTUNING .

CNY_STI i had read your post somewhere here as well. I'm now on Stage 2 w/FP&INJ with EFI Logic and seriously want a bigger Turbo but so much concern if i'm gonna break stock engine internals. My Tuner also said it will be fine if i'm not push hard to the limit.

BRENTUNING: I follow your post as well. Well Done by the way!

Mannnn...Not easy to make decision!

I'm pretty sure that Travis at Snail Performance runs that turbo on stock internals too.

I'm running a 2.5XTR with all supporting mods on a stock block, Cleo tuned @ IAG. Here is the dyno sheet, this is on a 93 pump gas conservative tune in 90 deg heat. I have trapped between 115-117 mph on this setup depending on heat.

Anytime earth0, so far I have been on this setup about 2 months and almost 3k miles. I using IAG TGV deletes and the Perrin 2.4" inlet hose. Fuel system is ID1000's, Aeromotive Stealth 325 FP (Hardwired), Aeromotive FPR with gauge, IAG Fuel Rails and Lines. Only negative I have so far is it is a tad bit of lag compared to the VF48 but the Killer b ELH has helped. Full boost around 3800-4k RPMS then it hits hard all the way to redline.

Sound like Funnn to me. I hope and want to hear if this thing are reliable but i believed it depend on how we driving it. It kind of hard not to jump on the gas peddle w/ this kind of turbo upgrade. My Tomei ELH is on the way with other support part.

It just me! if i will or will not going with Turbo...or just have ELH and Protune. Cheers!
