I got some good amount of information today regarding the 08 STI but I can´t share much of it since I promised not to spill the beans. Those beans are mostly cosmetic beans though, but they´re hot!

I will say this though, since some of these subjects have been talked about greatly here on IWSTI:

Those who are expecting a good bump in hp... Sorry. Slight gain in torque.
Those who are expeting a lighter car... Sorry. We´re talking about around 75-80lbs gain.
Fog lights... Like them or not?
Recaro seats are optional in a package with other things. See: Nurbie-STI

As much as I'd love to believe this, I think I'll hold off until Subaru's official release.

Does Iceland get the 2.5L or the 2.0L? Also, the WRX hatch is 50lbs lighter than previous years, so I don't see the new STi gaining 75-80lbs ... I don't believe that one bit. I could see on par with the current model but not more. Sorry. Time will prove me wrong I guess...

The JDM specs are hinted at 1460kg for the entry model STi, that's 3218lbs. I don't see a US version, which only varies by .5L and enhanced bumper beams, being 3390lbs (current USDM weight + 75lbs.)

I do believe the Recaros though, as it was commented somewhere else as being offered in a package too. I really wish we would get an option for the 6-pots though. The minor power increase doesn't bother me since the handling should be noticeably better, which equals faster lap times anyhow.

Weird. I'm still going to wait to be sure because I can't see what they could possibly add to the new STI chassis to make it heavier. It's virtually the same 6spd, slightly better trim, same size wheels (with options for 18s I believe), virtually the same 2.5L engine, etc. I could see the dual exhaust adding a few pounds, but not much.

I just can't think of what could possibly add 75-80lbs more than the current 07 STi (which weighs in at over 3340+ lbs.) It just doesn't make sense.

I thought it was 17" BBS wheels with RE070s or optional 18" BBS wheels with RE050s?

I dunno. But it looks like it´s heavier and the US model is the heaviest.
