Default 08 sti HP

So i was at the dealership about an hour ago getting an o2 sensor replaced(which they didnt have after two weeks), me and the service guy started chit chatting and he said that the new 08's where supposed to have around 320 hp and about 320 torque, he said the actuall specs should be released by the end of next month. Well atleast its gonna be faster, right?

yeah, and its gonna be lighter, so faster and light might make up for it being beaten with the ugly stick

I will wait until the new one actually comes out and I see some curb weights and performance data from an independent source. Also, as the owner of an 04, its going to take a lot for me to trade mine in.

Damn right.

Gonna have to doubt the higher HP numbers, as well as the lighter weight. Doesn't seem like Subaru is going for the bare bones STi as in years past.

If its lighter, and even with that modest 27HP bump, it'll probably be faster. The EVO X got 100lbs heaver Edmund's says in their review. It also has something around 298 hp which is a small boost for them as well. I feel like STI could have had a 50 hp boost without much difficulty. I mean, stage II nets you a whole lot and doesn't invovle a large amount of change....

I am hoping for as much as possible. I'm downgrading from 700 so the more power, the better!

I sure hope it comes with a lot of increased power compared to the past years, as well as being lighter. Personally, I can believe the power increase part, but not so much the light weight part - it seems like if anything it would be significantly heavier, with Subaru trying to point more towards a "luxury/mature" crowd... My opinion is the same on this one as all of the other things I've heard about the '08 STI - I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, '05 FTW!

Also, the mods should probably move this to the '08 STI - general forum, not leave it in this one.

I hope it doesn't come with the same engine management issues the 07 has.
