Default 2008 STi or BMW 135? (+ 1 Series Pricing!!) - sponsored by www.1Series.com

I think the prices are going to be close. Although this thread is in Subaru forum, but if you were considering either car without being partial, which one would you pick and why?

Thanks guys!

p.s. Here is a link to some good info on the 135:

Well I personally cannot stand hatchbacks, I would go with the beamer any day.

Hatch STI or coupe 135....hmmm? I'll go for the coupe especially being a bimmer and dual turbos. Also side by side the bimmer will stand out as the graduate guy while the STI will be more like the grown rebelious teenager.

The only downside on the 135 would be the loss of AWD, VCD, DCCD, 2 differentials and 4 doors.

^ +1..Go with the 135. IMO. I love the 335i's. I dont think this one would be much different. Just ask you're self. Do I just want to go fast? OR Do I want to go fast with luxury?

WOW $35000 TT beamer would be hard to pass up especially with all the luxuries you will get. but IMO the full package 35i beamer will be a little little more than $35k and i would say close to $40k-$42k. ok so we've seen production models of the BMW and we are waiting for the sti! im not doing any final judgment until both have been driven by myself. that bimmer is one sick puppy though. i love it

I'm a bimmerphile so I've just gotta say this,

BMW cars are bimmers. BMW Motorcycles are beemers. Please don't call BMW cars beemers. It's incorrect. It just bugs those of us BMW fanatics.
Also, BMW's were around long before yuppies(and we can't stand the stereotype, just like with the STi).

I would definitely take the BMW hands down.

But, I genuinely doubt you will get a comparably equipped STi and 135i at the same price.

They're also apples and oranges. This thread is kinda like asking sti vs. vette. But I would like to see BMW use the 1-series as a platform for WRC(I think the euro market has 120i's, so they would be legal and also have an engine to use). Then, I think we could ask STi vs. EVO or 1-series. I think i'd be in love with a BMW rally car. Right now, with my STi, I'm only infatuated.

I'd have to actually SEE both cars in person before I make my decision.

As for the 135, it's already hard enough to squeeze people into the back of a regular e90 3 Series, so I don't even want to imagine what that task is going to be like with a 1 Series.

However, 135XI as a daily driver + my current STi as a weekend project car FTMFW.

I had a chance to see the new Impreza today. I am glad I got an 07 and will not be going to a Subaru dealership except for parts anytime in the near future. It is way off base for a performance car and all I can hope is they save their butt with a total redesign soon. I don't see any way for them to make the sti look even "ok" based on this turd. My wife put it best when she thought it was a used Kia on the lot. Good luck with the BMW, hopefully the lack of support for the new platform will inspire Subaru to rethink their new business plan.

I think the bimmer is ugly, and I will be really surprised if its the same price.
