If they are using the new standard bhp measurement then reading 300 whp on a bone stock 335i or 135i is extremely high reading dyno. Even if the drivetrain is ultra efficient and only loses 5-7% to the ground (very doubtful of that if BMW wanted them to be mod friendly) then that would put it somewhere around 279-285 on a regular dyno.

Don't get crazy looking at dyno numbers. My bone stock Hyundai Elantra (2nd car) might look pretty tough on the right dyno too.

it seems the tt motor is underated like many others (z06, ford gt, ect.) many believe its actually making closer to 330 at the flywheel. i have a buddy with a 328, its rated at 265 flywheel and on the same dyno that a 335i made 287 whp it make just over 180whp. (mustang) thats about a 15-20% drivetrain lose. the 335 does have that much more efficient trans. its not the numbers im fixed on it the power gains.

Yeah, that's why I said this:
"If they are using the new standard bhp measurement then reading 300 whp on a bone stock 335i or 135i is extremely high reading dyno."
If BMW was using the new standard (they almost surely are as I thought all new vehicles HAD to adhere to the standard - hence the new STi being exactly same power level but having 293 bhp instead of the 300 bhp on previous years) for bhp measurement the possibility of them being "underrated" should be next to nil. That new standard should do away with "underrated" (Mustang Cobra is notorious for this) and "overrated" (RX8 is notorious for this) power figures out of the factory....

I know what your saying, but I'm quite doubtful an ECU reflash with no other power mods makes 120whp... Unless it's being measured on a ridiculously high reading dyno like I said.

We did a dealer trade today so I got to hang out at the BMW dealership for a while. The 1 series will be here next spring or summer with the 128i starting around $25,000 and a fully loaded 135xi would be close to $40,000. They didn't have a idea about a 4 door so don't expect to see one during the first model year. It should weigh about 300 pounds less than a same trim level 3 series. The sales managers I talked to were stoked, couldn't help but talk sh*t about how much the 1 series is going to hurt the Lexus IS amongst other cars in the $30,000 range. They mentioned some company which offers a $2600 package including TBE, intake, and chip which should bump the power up to 440hp; I'm sure they were talking crank numbers.

Oh yeah.. M3 should be here anyday now

Now that seems a little more realistic. Probably little less than 400whp even on a generous dyno, but still darn good for those minimal mods.

Lets be honest here, that 135, yeah sure, might be faster, but have you seen the interior, its crap, and it looks like a chick car. Yeah no thanks.

yes yes i got a little excited about the 120 hp but like i said close and close being about 90. but i have done some searching and i have found almost 120 torque increase. again almost. but like was said previously great gains for such little mods. i thought the sti was fun!! ill be dynoing the car with a turboback from none other than ultimate racing monday on a dd dyno.

135i will have a dipstick

Hmmmm, I was leaning towards the 135i but after seeing the recent photos of the STI on the ring I'm going to have to see each of them in person & drive both. That STI looks so much better than the WRX. Love those front fenders! I no longer looks like a miniture SUV.

Did anyone see the post on the e90forum of the guy with the 335i with procede v.2 + vishnu CUSTOM tune + CUSTOM TBE (no cats) + CUSTOM FMIC that hung with 2 modified M5's in 'power 500' mode up to about 120 mph only to be eclipsed by 1-2 car lengths until the limiter hit at 150 mph ?
Crazy.
