I have to admit that the Japanese car maker's are very incestuous when it comes to design.

What is the Suzuki model that models the Subaru 06-07 pig-nose (almost identically)?

Good thing the 08's don't look like Suzuki's anymore (but still like the focus, MS3, Lexus RX3, Toyota Matrix....)

Yeah tell me about, BMW's iDrive was criticized for the first couple of years, now almost every large luxury sedans navigation is based off the iDrive...

I was once corrected by a BMW crazed man who owned 7 of them (he was a pretty cool guy actually): Beemer or Beamer is the motorcycle and Bimmer is the car...just in case you come across one of these people.

As for the 1 series Bimmer, I have no interest. The combination of the engine with the small car is the only thing that appeals to me. It's not repulsive to me, but unlike when I see a car I like, I won't lose sleep over it. I'd have to put a custom paint job on it just to keep myself awake when I walked towards it.

while the pre 08 sti's might have attracted a younger crowd. i tried to gather some info regarding the 08 and found that there is still quite a large number of folks in 16-24. but the majority of the owners are above 25 and lots of us in the 30something range.
Actually, you don't have to mod the STi to lose warranty coverage. You just have to drive it fast. "Racing" was mentioned twice on my engine replacement (at 1987 miles) work order, though I don't race; I'm a performance driving instructor who does track weekends. The work order went on to say that I was paying for the replacement because I "abused" the car. YMMV but in my very real track-heavy experience the 08 is a fuming t*rd and I should've gone with the 135.

I'm a 40-something pushing 50 and to my eyes the 08 is a much more attractive car than the previous ones, but that doesn't matter much. My 04 WRX and 06 and 07 STi's were tough as nails. The 08 blew up at 1987 miles and at its only track outing with the new engine it was trying very hard to overheat.

A black 08 STI with a drop, red tails, tints, and nice rims in my opinion looks completely awesome. Honestly I think it is one of the better looking cars on the road, it just needs some work to bring that out. The 135 looks like **** (sorry) the 335 is pretty nice but does not feel responsive coming from the STI. No turbo lag my ass, it doesn't go anywhere. I am completely happy in my 08 sti and laugh at my friends BMW's, especially when it starts to snow (most have already gotten in accidents due to snow). Plus I can actually have SPACE in my car unlike the 135 and 335. My friend with a E92 can't fit **** in his car and he has to get out to let someone in the back (lol) and there is zero headroom. Im 6 foot and my head is already almost hitting the roof, I have no idea how tall people fit. And to the whole "ohh the sti is all old technology, blah blah blah" going stage 2 costs what? like 1500$. For that 1500$ you get a absurd amount of performance. BMW **** is insanely expensive. 2k for a downpipe? righhhtt. STI's are more functional (all weather, hatch, 4door, ect..) than the 135 and 335. And my STI has personality something that I cannot say for the beemers. Anyways thats my opinion. Flame away.

The older bimmers had character. Each evolution becomes more luxurious than the previous and less bimmerish. The 2002, the Bavarian, the 80's 3 series, the 80's M6, and the 850 all had character. The most recent 3s look nice, but they're too luxury oriented and BMW, in my opinion, has made the mistake of leaning towards Japanese design in the interior when people buy BMW for their Europeaness. Audi and Volvo still understand this, but Audi can't keep a car out of the garage for repair.

If it were just drivetrain, I would be ok with the BMW, but unless they bring the hatch over, the "coupe" or whatever it is that they designed for us, is an amazingly ugly and impractical car. Long term, I think the '08 sti will perform better than the 135's at the track, but since I haven't owned a BMW since my 80's 733i, that part is just conjecture. I will say that I suspect I can go further with my $ when modding the Subaru vs. the BMW and since neither car would satisfy me stock, modded vs. modded is the comparison I must make

Do me a favor for you guys who have Subaru's. Go up to your car, and just tap on the roof of the car, on the door of the car, open and shut the door, pop the hood or trunk and shut it...

Now, go up to a bmw, do exactly the same thing... thats quality and performance for you. And I think for being close to the same price , i would much rather have quality and peformance over just performance.
hehe...

Hey bud!
You are so right....

You will get it all with the 135 ...

Most girls that I know think the 1 series looks cheap. Lets not get carried away. The 1 series is bottom of the barrel in the BMW heirarchy. Driving one does NOT make you look like a baller. It makes you look like you couldnt afford the 3 series.

Then again i drive a ugly minivan/wagon hatch Subaru.

Love what you drive.

Go with the 335 not 135. The 135 is way to femm! And the tune ability on the 335 is amazing
