The Times likes the new WRX

New York Times that is. They liked it enough to put it on their "Don't miss" list of cars to see at the NY Auto Show:

I talked to the parts manager at Subaru in Memphis last friday he asked me if I had seen the new wrx and I was like yes and it made me want to balf. He just looked at me like "O....KK..." Then I explained.

Maybe its liberal bias is not so obvious. based on the quote below it looks like someone was willing to accept a little good 'ol free trade type bribery when they wrote the following words:

The author appears to be comparing the '08 to the '06-'07, but saying the '08 is an improvement over those models, as ugly as they are, requires a suspension of any normal system of esthetics.

Just as other rags have said, the '08 Impreza is more appealing in general to a wider audience but the "Impreza faithful" hate it. Either the faithful will come to appreciate the new car or Subaru is attempting to switch to a more profitable (and larger) market segment.
