Nah, I just didn't like the look, but it did start to grow on me after a while. The back and front just don't look like they match. The only thing I'm envious of on the newer models is the VF43, better heads, and gearing. Other than that, I love my 05.

In all seriousness though, I'm sure 06 owners were a little envious of the changes made to the 07s, just as the 07 owners will likely envy the 08s. Coming from a Honda world where nothing changes for years, I was really worried I wouldn't be able to cope with all of Subarus year-to-year improvements/changes. The only reason it probably doesn't bother me more is because I absolutely love my 05.

Get rid of that wing and I could like it. It looks fine on a sedan, but looks retarded on a hatch.

But I'm keeping my '04.

I woudnt mind seeing a hatch but subaru should still make them in sedan as well. A car that has only been a sedan might not go over well with a hatch.

They already have the STI Legacy in Asia so theres a strong possbility it will come here eventually. Maybe that could be a reason why the hatch sti because they are going to have a legacy sti?

I agree. STi should look mean... that STi portrayed in the edmund article appears too nice and blend. I remember someone saying that it looks like mazda protoge... and now that I look at it... it really does and I don't really like it.

I have no idea why subaru is downgrading. They will see their sales go way the hell down, then back up in 2009 with an awesome redesigned sti...can hope right?

That is for the European engine. We are getting a new 2.5......which will have more horsepower. ~330 is probably what we will see.......mostly coming by way of dual AVCS. Easy ponies without sacrificing gas mileage numbers.

If it's 330 BHP 2.5 liter AND significantly lighter...

I'm going with the 2008.

STI? Lightweight? Hahaha!

But seriously, it seems they should be able to get 330 easily, with minor engine tuning.. as that is what a remap which would cost subaru nothing but some gas mileage rating on the car would do. I'm OK if its going to be uglier than the Evo X (basically a given at this point) but it should atleast have the same sort of features and handle as well... which I don't envision it doing right now...

Haven't seen any Coupe to Sedan, or Sedan to Coupe, or Sedan to hatch changes in any car company, ever, unless Im not thinking fully. They always make a variant. Like for example, the Mazda6. They have the 5-door and regular sedan. The mazda3 is a sedan, then it has the 5door variant. Camrys have their sedan, and the Camry Solara is a hatch coupe I believe? Either way, its a coupe, and they won't merge it, infact their discontinuing the Camry Solara due to unpopularity. Get what Im saying? So, looking at other car companies and their decision on variants rather than replacements (rarely do they ever), Subaru might toss in the Sedan STI in the end? Although Subaru has a knack for being the odd-ball of the family lol. I told several of my friends that the next STI may be in hatch form like the Mazda3 5-DR. Not one of them were pleased in that rumor lol, I hope Subaru is doing their research in detail.

not sure if I read you right. Gne1 imprezas were 2 door coupe STi's (think 22B) and now Gen2 imprezas have STi sedans. The Mustang has been a hatch, then back to a coupe, and back to a hatch again. Same with the Eclipse. RX7 was a hatch, and the RX8 is a 4 door coupe. So it was a bad example, but I agree with you. I'm pretty confident that subaru will do as they have been doing. Base sedan/hatch. WRX sedan/hatch. And STi sedan. They might toss in some 2door love, who knows. But I wouldn't count on JUST a 5 door hatch STi. If anything, it'll just be a variant of that model.
