I'm surprised everyone missed that it is only 50lbs lighter than the previous model. Wtf? Where are the weight savings? It apparently is also not going to be making any more power than the current model.

This does not bode well for the STi model. I think we're all desperately hoping that Subaru is going to "surprise" us with something fantastic, but sadly it looks like much of the same old stuff just rehashed with a different, even uglier, face.

To me the front looks like they tried to copy the new Civic's "one-light" look, then threw in a PT cruiser/Chrysler grill, got bored and said, "just copy the Mazda design". That thing is hideous.

I'll be keeping my 05 for a very long time it seems and then on to a Z06 or similar vehicle. I can get over styling, but there had better be some major performance backing it up. I'm not seeing that in the new WRX and I suspect the STi isn't going to "wow" us either.

I think thats hogwash considering the engine is a LGT motor put into the new WRX body.

Also, the weight savings of the hatch design could have been used by not using expensive aluminum in the hood and roof and heavier components (maybe a beefed up 5spd) under the hood.

I hate how HBs within the past five years or so have become taller and rounder. I miss HBs like the EK9 with curves and sharp lines. The MKIV Golf/GTi was also a good looking car. This new trend started with the EP3, and ever since everybody else has been outdoing the other (Mazda 3, A3, etc.)

I'll be anticipating the improvments over the current WRX/STis, but I honestly can't see myself driving that thing. The concept pics of the 5 door STi with our current spoiler look like garbage, even worse than the MotorTrend pics. Unless the next gen is offered in a sedan that looks half way decent, I plan to keep mine forever.

I love it!!!

If the STi doesn't weigh any more than the one I've got I may have to get an '08 and make a run at nationals in STU!

I think if subaru made a two door model it would be more appealing to me. I think the four door coupled with the front end just make the wrx look ugly. The interior is very nice though after seeing the road and track pics, much nicer then the current model. While I consider the interior to be very important, I wouldnt buy a car with a nice interior if its exterior was very ugly.

Those new pictures helped a lot, replace the grill and the tail lights and Ill actually like it. The interior looks a lot nicer.
And no roof rails anymore
