Why would you ever think that would happen? The hood scoop is a signature, the tmic offers instant spool and is cheaper to build, a fmic is more prone to road debris. Subaru doesnt use a FMIC on anything that I know of. If they are going to use anything other than TMIC, they should just copy the VMIC from the WRC cars...

yea it's gonna still be tmic most likely, but i don't see any sense in that engine bay pic.
the wrx should have a bigger intercooler for one thing and second that doesn't look like the motor known to imprezassssss....that's no EJ biatch.

they have the EJ25 in the new wrxs right? since they are all 2.5l now.

Yea Subaru will at least for the time being not do a fmic. They are known for their tmic and they wont change that for a while if ever.

Couldnt Subaru have achieved similar power with a smaller intercooler? I dont think the size of the intercooler means a whole lot if they did other engine tweaks to compensate for a smaller intercooler.

I didnt notice it at first but yea thats a different engine.

nahh smaller intercooler won't be efficient enough under the hood.
the stocker barely flows good in wrx's right now.

I'm going to wait for April 5th before I pass any judgements, but I have to say... even thought I don't like the "projected" look, I don't really care what it looks like. 04s/05s/06s/07s will always be the same, and it will just make me love my car even more.

Well the legacy GT makes 243 hp and it now has the same size intercooler as the new wrx.

If their going to put the legacy motor in the new wrx that means it will weigh a little less and as long as theres no changes to the motor, the new wrx should have similar performance to the current legacy- not bad but its still incredibly ugly.

I hope so too because they need better performance to get people to look past the design.

The way I see it, the Sti and EVO aren't pretty cars to begin with. In fact what attracted me to the Sti was it's no nonsense blue-collar way it goes about its businnes of kicking ass. Function over form you might say.

I doubt Subaru (and Mitsu) will be releasing 08 cars that are slower than the previous generation, so from a technical standpoint we are in for a real treat. Isn't progress great?</insert>
I guess there is some of that going on, but I own an 06 and think it is not the best year for looks. I agree they are ugly to begin with, but I guess it's so much of a change that it freaks me out. Kinda like how the Chevy Nova turned into a poo-box after many proud years. I also love the Evo IV as far as styling goes, but you can't get those here - the new Evo also looks very strange. Maybe it will grow on us, but it's like both of these cars have a bit of a long-standing base form and now they are flipping it around to something it traditionally has not been.

^^That isn't the most reliable source. Not saying it is or isn't true (we'll know for sure on April 5th), just saying I wouldn't believe them off hand.
