Default Spoke to a Subaru salesmen about the 08 STi

I took my car in this morning for my free oil change. A salesmen approached, started chating it up. I began to interrogate him on the new Impreza. He said that we should expect the RS/WRX by October or November. The STi should be released in early 2008. As for styling, he said that Subaru is going back to a one piece grill like the 04/05, and that it should remain a sedan. I asked him about a 5 door, or even coupe models, but he said he hasn't heard anything like that for the STi. He said expect to see no more than 350hp, and Subaru will most likely use a twin scroll to attain higher hp/tq numbers.

One thing he did say was that Subaru is strongly considering developing a strictly STi line. He says that when the time comes for a redesign of the Forester and Legacy, expect to see some STi models. This really got me excited, I absolutely love Foresters

Yea I talked to one too. He said that the gearbox on the black 07 sti we looked at was automatic , that their 400hp model in their "other" warehouse had illegal nitrous and that he didn't know any info on the 08. This was on Nicholasville road in lexington/nicholasville. New ownership, world class auto bought out the old guy that had owned it for a long time prior.

Man, if the 08's has 350HP...

And I don't want to see STi lineup of cars, it makes the STi less special.

edit: moral of the story... we woulnt know much till itd actually here

In 7 months...

*Sigh*

Even IF then, I'd want to wait for the 09' model so they can flatten out the bugs... just like the 04-05 transition.

Most sales guys don't know a damn thing. I wouldn't believe a word he says. He's most likely talking out of his crapper.

you do realise they make STI foresters and legacy's in other parts of the world? and i'm not talking about a forester that has big wheels and lowered...i mean true sti power in a forester.

Yup, I take everything with a grain of salt. I did find him to be half way credible as he dismissed the thought of a coupe/wagon so quickly.

A little over a month and we'll finally know the truth.

Twin scroll turbo and no hatchback...sign me up for 1. I'll order one when I'm looking at it, not until then though. Patiently waiting for "official" info
