The STi is one of the lowest volume sellers on a Subaru lot. Outback, Forester, Legacy, and base Imprezas easch outsell STI's by a wide margin.

Hearing that the next STI will be a hatch makes me love my car even more.

I wish I could get an STI that had a body (and dash design) just like the 3dr GTI.

My drivetrain with subaru reliability into a GTI? Pure sex.

The 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI will be offered only as a hatchback, as we've already seen in the 2007 Subaru factory rally car. There's a strong possibility the car will feature a new multilink rear suspension. It will get a reworked version of the current intercooled and turbocharged DOHC 2.0-liter flat-4 engine, expected to produce 300 horsepower and 431 pound-feet of torque.
I want one.

honestly, it isn't as ugly as i was expecting. I wonder what they mean by reworked version of the 2.0-liter. I am assuming 431 ft/lb of torque comes from a twin scroll 2.0 liter. What does this translate to for a single turbo 2.5-liter USDM model? Also, will the hatch model have more or less trunk space than our current sedans (I realize it's 5.1 inches shorter, but since it's a hatch...)?
