Subaru to Discontinue Use of Aluminum Body Panels

Given subby has already announced plans to discontinue use of aluminum body panels due to costs, i wouldn't get my hopes up for more costly light weight materials to find their way to the 08 model

The new 5 series BMW you mentioned has All-aluminum suspension and body front section components to achieve its weight balance....

sounds like different strategies if you as me... my bet is that it gets fatter

No, the RS is the model that came out before the ST. We got the SVT and europe recieved the RS (I believe it was turboed with around 250hp, don't really feel like searching for the exact specs.)

The RS was last produced on the previous generation Focus, the RS shown above is a concept and is not yet for sale. The ST (222hp) is

I will choose my next car purchase strictly by the way the car performs. Who cares what shape the car is when they are as much fun to drive as these cars are

Agreed on that.. I was dead set on an 05 until I saw the 06 S204 in CGM. The sound of a hatch doesnt sound that good to me either, but I would rather wait to see it before I judge.

My semi-educated guess is that there will not be a MY08 STI, and a 3 door hatch will be the only STI in 2009. The MY08 WRX will be a hatch though.

Subaru WRC needs more work and testing done on a new body style STI, unless they want to finish behind Citroen, Peugot, and the others (again). I would think that will happen before a new body comes over here.
