That's what I'm talking about. The Evo is gaining weight, it's the perfect time for the STI to lose some.

I HIGHLY doubt that Subaru will ONLY offer a hatchback...I hope...b/c when I graduate I plan on getting one...then again thats until like 2009....more than likely 2010! LOL

A five door hatch? Ouch. If Ford would bring the new Focus RS to the states, I'd get that instead.

Thankfully dealers are always the least reliable source of details, so I am not especially worried.

i'm pretty sure they have gauged the reaction of the general public.
Here in town that happened once where they had 4 EVO VIII of all colors in front row at 29K price reduction with red ballons around just because they didn't sell.
If I recall, they had a blue, yellow, graphite and a white one. It was a cool and also a sad view of Mitsu trying to get rid of these cars.

It's funny that you say that. I dusted one off this weekend on the autobahn. It looked just like this one, but it was bright orange.

Well for Subaru I assumed that the Impreza was there best selling vehicle. Is it not?

I'm sure no matter what the configuration of the car is, hatch or not, you can be rest assured it will be heavier. When was the last time a car manufacturer came out with a new model that wasn't bigger and heavier?

if they make it a 3 door hatch that would not be bad. I guess a 5 door would be ok but i would want to put some wider fenders on the front and rear so it will not look so much like an egg shaped car. that is my only gripe about hatch back cars.

Actually a lot of cars have been lighter than their predecessors. The 5 series BMW is 100lbs. lighter, and its bigger. The new Jag sedan has lightweight aluminum panels thru-out the body. 200lbs. lighter. I think it will be the same weight or maybe a tad lighter. Remember, the japanese cannot substitute heavier for lighter that easy. They are too worried about gas mileage.
