Blasphemy

Subaru wouldn't pull a Toyota and bring the STi back 10 years later at $20k more expensive.

Oh yeah, I'm most bitter about the hatch only, if there isn't a substantial power difference between the 08 and 07, I'm definitely gonna get a 07.

Don't just go by the power, watch the weight as well. If the power is the same but they lose some weight with the new model, the new one should be faster and handle better.

why dont you hold off on being bitter until the actual car comes out? so far everything's based off a few blurbs in some japanese car gossip rags, which are famously unreliable.

I agree. I was reading some old posts on NABISCO from 2003 speculating what the STi was going to be like. Most seemed to be citing reputable sources, and most turned out to be wrong. Still, it's fun to speculate, I guess.

Evo X is also a big issue. That thing is even more technilogically advanced than the IX... if they give it another bump in power its going to be noticably faster than the STI as well as better looking (but thats a given :P). The evo *COULD* be comfier, faster, safer (oh nos that belongs to subaru!)... probably not cheaper though.

Ahh no one can resist speculation...

The only things I've managed to confirm regarding the X is that it will 1) Be more expensive - look for the 38 - 40k range . 2) It will be a bit heavier, but about 200lbs., though a power increase may render this moot. 3) It will share a global platform with, but VERY FEW (if any) parts with the SRT4 Caliber. 4) It won't be a hatch. Sedan (or saloon for the Euro folks) only.

Paddle shifter is optional. And until it's out for a year or so and I can hear about its reliability, I wouldn't jump on the bandwagon just yet.

Looking good! Hopefully it comes really close to this. And does this body style really give them a huge advantage in WRC? I would have to think it would be a combination of things such as the driver, navi, crew, mechanical reliability, etc. to put SWRT back on top.

well it should benefit in WRC somehow because all the other cars are three door hatches and subaru decided they had to join in on that to be competitive again.
i really like that way that picture looks.

I really like the most recent chops posted above. I have seen this chop with a huge STI wing over on nasioc and I am OK with Subaru losing the huge wing because this picture looks really good. I would be on board for something like this. Makes settling for a STI Forester less important. I could just get the real thing and still get the utility of crating my crap around in the back. If they stick with 5 door and make it look really nice, sign me up for a special edition like "limited" or "S20X" model in 2009.

I actually like 3 door hatches... I might consider getting one if they come out with one and looks good
