IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | the problem Right we are doing a oil consummation test I know I will fail, I know this engine is failing mainly because my last oil report said has 30 PPM of Alum, and 1.81 fuel ratio. both are the highest every in 4 oil changes, the car only has 7500 miles on it. The solutions a) Have Subaru rebuild the motor with OEM parts. Pros Motor will have full warranty Cons Pistons are cost Alum not forged B) Have Subaru rebuild motor but put CP 99.5 forged pistons in. Pros Pistons are now forged HP now doable Cons engine no longer under warranty C) Have Ron at Raw performance build me a custom motor using new sort block. this will take 10 day to do. If I have him use my long block it will take 3 weeks ( to long for my car to be setting at the dealer ship) Also I can ship him my long block he would repair the short block. Use my heads for the new short block. I would sell my old short block on ebay as a rebuilt short block Ron would ship it for me. Pros. One hell of a engine. Cons. COST 4-5K then subtract 1k If I can get that for my short block if I can sell it. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

| Junior STI Driver | I would fight for a new shortblock. Then order the built block. Then swap blocks and sell the stick shortblock for more than a rebuilt block. |

This way you'll still be covered. Besides, despite all the failures we read on the boards, it would be one BIG coincidence if your engine blows again. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | How do I treat my car? I have 4 oil changes all at the dealer all with RLI aka (10.00) a quart oil. After every oil change I pay 60.00 for a report. I also have put 9 DE days on it. So I am a track junky. |

| S204 Racer | well... the question is, do you want to keep your warranty : yes or no. once you've got that sorted out, it only depends on how much you want to spend. J. |

| Junior STI Driver | Yup, this officially sucks. With the record that Subaru has had on reliability, it seems likely there is a serious manufacturing defect. Just out of curriosity, were you running the stock tune? |

| Junior STI Driver | Hey Chris, its too bad that it turned into that to be the problem. I hope you resolve it well. I would personally do the built block, 2nd choice being the forged pistons. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
