Intake noise is it annoying?

I am thinking of getting a intake and a protune and was wondering about the noise from the intake. Is it annoying? Some input would be appreciated.

Annoying!!! Hell No!! Sounds like what a turbo car should sound like.I have the Harman CAI,and with the radio on low volume you can't hear a thing,and yes get a Protune just for the piece of mind safey factor.

thats probably one of the best things i love about my car is the noise it makes.. i wish there was a volume button to turn it up LoL

If you think it will be annoying, then it probably will be. You get wooshes and swishes all the time. If you're on the fence, do without. It's not going to add much, if any, noticeable power anyway. Unless you're looking to wring every HP out of your ride.

When you first get it you'll probably weird out a bit if you've never heard one but it grows on you. Getting on the throttle just slightly and hearing it start to gulp air is really cool, along with how the bypass and turbo sounds become more audible.

Agreed with Giant, it's how it should be.

After owning an 05 with an intake and hearing the whoosh sound everyday all day for a year and a half.. I can definitely tell you I WILL NOT be adding an aftermarket intake on my 2008. Its cool for a few months but, after that you'll find yourself trying to shift as early as possible to avoid hearing the damn thing.

i have an injen cai and i love the sound it makes. best sound ever besides the boxer rumble

Thanks for the input. I had a gti 1.8t years ago and it had a cold air intake on it that drove me crazy. I dont really want to get one, but amr has one and they have a map they can send me, but it requires the intake to use their map. any suggestions. I already have the stage 2.

get a BOV instead

YES the sound is better than a intake.
YES it will make your car run richer in between shifts.
YES you will get a backfire when release the gaz pedal.

NO it won't blow up your motor.

I had a CAI on my 04 gti 1.8t and it is was extremely loud. I assumed it would be even louder on the sti, but it is way quieter. dont know why.

Harman Motive did an indepth review of intakes and the powert benefits it adds for the 07 Sti, and on average it added 8-10 whp. I noticed the power gain when installing my intake, and while I have only had it a few months the "Whoosh" doesn't annoy me.
