^^^ harman claims that you do not need a tune with their cai.

per harman motive's website
Quote:
The Harman Motive Cold-Air Intake for the 2008 WRX and STI was designed to improve horsepower, torque, and response without affecting fuel trims and tuning.

No Tuning Required:

The Harman Motive Cold-Air intake can be used on vehicles with stock ECU, off the shelf tunes (such as Cobb), or custom tuning. It will not throw an Check Engine lights or cause issues with idle, driveability, or air-fuel ratios.

Harman Motive has custom Accessport maps available for all of our products. These are included at no cost if you've purchased a Cobb Accessport from Harman Motive with other Harman performance products. If you already have an Accessport, these are available for $150 and can be emailed directly to you.

I don't know how you spell Harman CAI in N.Y. But I'm pretty sure it's not AMR BMI CAI.

We actually make quite a few more than 10 at a time, but as a busy shop, it can get tough to manufacture products while also doing part sales, tuning and installs. Even when we did "sell out", we had more ready to go out in less than a week.

As mentioned above, our intake does not require an special tuning and has been proven to offer worthwhile gains over the stock parts. For most customers going to stage 2 levels and even small stock location turbos, there will be no limitation by using our intake. For larger turbos, the benefits of a larger intake pipe will be beneficial which is why we use a 3" pipe on our 08 time attack car with a rotated/FMIC setup.

the only problem i have with Harman is that they charge shipping 18lbs for AEM... which is already $5 more then the 11lbs charged for their own CAI, but my fedex shipping shows 8lbs..means my shipping should be about $10 less then what i was charged.. I would say please update your shipping to charge people the correct amount in the future.

Exactly, 20G and SR40 are still sized well for our intake. Larger than that and you should be considering something larger.

Search. We discussed the harman CAI and my issue with the a/f. The intake raised it over a point. To almost 12:1 at wot. Dan harman had to send me a map adding more fuel. Be careful guys!!! Don't assume everything is fine. Side note. I'm running the harman tbe. Aem wideband to monitor my a/f

I tried scanning the chart last night, but the lines are really light and my POS scanner isn't picking them up well, I'll see if there's anything else I can do.

I think it is very important that people understand this. I can see a CAI with the same ID as the stock unit being safe for stock vehicles but I'd be weary of using it on a car that has been tuned and leaned out a bit.

Dan, have you posted a dynoplot showing the before and after AFR? I'm certainly not questioning your experience but I don't quite understand how a stock-sized CAI can consistently produce more power without tuning and without leaning up the AFR.
