Default GR Hate will no longer be tolerated

************************************************** ***
Subaru assigns a chassis code to every model produced.
GD = the chassis code for the 04-07 STIs.
GR = the chassis code for 08+ STIs.

************************************************** ***

If you see it, report it.

One intelligent member recently noted that the future of any forum is the retention of its valuable users as well as generating a desire for prospective users (lurkers) to become members. What IWSTI is experiencing right now is a lot of people bashing on GR owners and this is splitting/dividing the members. This has been echoed by several other members when I asked them about a completely unrelated subject, so I know that its a problem right now.

Moderators will be stepping in and putting a STOP to this bashing of the GR. It’s getting old fast and our members don’t have patience for this. I’ve seen it through every generation, but for some reason the GR haters are worse then ever. If you see GR hate, then we are asking you to help us police it. You may report it using the report post feature in the lower left hand corner of the member's post. If we don't hear about it from the members, then there is a chance that we can miss it.

Follow this simple rule: If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all. Every bit of criticism about the GR model has already been heard. Any new criticism can be posted in this thread.

If you value your membership on this forum, you will take this message very seriously.

Can GR owners hate on their own cars like "Gee golly my engine asploded, I am hate my GR!"

J/K ... we all appreciate the intervention. I had gotten to the point where I was just ignoring it, but I can clearly see how it could deter future patrons of your business empire.

I think the criticism has just gotten carried away. One member makes one obnoxious comment and then another tries to out-do that member with his own. Before you know it, you have two guys acting like imbeciles and they go on to spread it to other parts of the forum. This is not only a community of mature Subaru enthusiasts, but its also an incredible resource that must be maintained by both the moderator team and the collective membership.

Its impossible for the mod team to read every thread, which is why we ask for members to help out with reporting posts.

With the birth of the GR series impreza (GR is the model designation given by Subaru; it isn't short for anything to my knowledge but feel free to correct me), IWSTI activity has shot through the roof. Members are spending longer time on the forum and they are reading more than ever before. I attribute this to not only the GR owners but also the new influx of GD owners. This has put increased demands on the mod team as well as the server.

We probably will outgrow our current server very soon...I continue to monitor our activity a few days a week to ensure that we do not overload the server, which results in slower load times for our members.

I love the fact that this site loads faster than most of the other sites out there, even when you are posting, searching, and browsing. The real heros are the donating members who make it possible for us to upgrade as we need! Thanks guys!!!

We're not trying to censor valid discussions, folks. We're trying to curtail the volatile posts that turn 08 discussion threads into hatemongering and flamewars.

Just wanted to clarify. If your engine assploded, feel free to complain away. Just don't blame every 08.

I've been guilty of the "back and forth" before, but every instance has been one certain member (whom we all know doesn't need to be named) that seems to really try his hardest to de-rail threads.

Glad to see these changes. A few of the guys I've spoke with on IM also are glad to see this happening!

From to . I've been disappointed in some of the posts but all in all, this site is a GREAT resource and a very effective work-avoidance diversion...wait who said that?

To add to your point, rarely will mature people simply hate something through and through. A discussion is much more valid if it equally shares what you like as oppposed to what you intensely dislike. (think about all the credible magazines that seek to give a fair assessment of new models).

I ask that you seriously consider what you have to say before posting if its in a negative vein. I don't want people to be wrongfully assigned points but the moderators have been given a long leash to reel in what we perceive a serious problem.
