Thanks for the heads up. Im actually getting used to it now hehe

My magnaflow exhaust crackles and pops only on warm up, then it levels out evenly.

Also i have a question, how long does it take before the exhaust is broken in where the packing inside changes the tone of the exhaust.. I hear a week but someone says it usually takes about a month..

re: loudness differences between audio samples.

keep in mind this is a sample to show exhaust tone. relative volumes are offset by the recorders auto EQ function. to keep the Magnaflow from clipping would have ended up with the OEM so soft you'd have a hard time hearing the details. Bringing up the two equally to make the OEM loud enough to hear would have resulted in clipping the audio sample of the Magnaflow. (based on the gear i used).

this will all be detailed in the web page i do. there will be both dBA (human hearing range) and dBC (musical range) readings even though DOT/States specify dBA for their requirements (when they have them). dBC will typically provide a higher reading than dBA because it samples a wider range of frequencies (and this is reflected in the numbers I got). for now, suffice it to say that my readings confirmed Magnaflows assertion that they pass all state restrictions on loudness (95 dBA iirc).

Technically the internal stuffings of the muffler (fiberglass packing, insulation, steel wool, etc) won't "break in". They are designed to help absorb / diffuse based on the characteristics of the muffler design. Over time they will break down with heat, vibration, moisture, pressure, etc. On really cheap mufflers this is quite problematic because the internals breakdown quickly and the design intention of the muffler is quickly compromised.

I would hate to blow something up from my $450 exhaust.

I have the same whistle .. it seems to start around 4k under load...it almost screams.. it sounds like wind is getting in between somewhere?? I had the exhaust installed at a shop and everything is buttoned down... no idea what it could be..... I'll try to capture it with my video camera and post it..

I hear it. it is probably the design of the tips... not a smooth split off. Just a hole in the pipe for the inner tips. what you're hearing is turbulent exhaust rushing out of the tips.

Some people pay extra and take pride in that sound.

YouTube - The whistles go.... whoo whoo!

Anyone get one recently? Just curious if they made adjustments for fit issues. I was told I'll have a new one sent once it is hand picked. hadn't heard anything for a week though.
