i was looking to upgrade to the new sti but after this i'm not sure

your reason for getting a Subaru should be 3/4 performance 1/4 love at the LEAST, and any single magazine / TV show / writers review should not sway your decision.

Enjoi your more marketable sedan.

The blue one in the video Jeremy referred to as the FQ360, which is the one modded by the UK importer. In a different episode, the STI was actually 0.2 seconds faster than the Evo X. Also, the FQ360 is about $25,000 more than the STI.

they are getting 50whp with just a tune on the X, seems to be really detuned from the factory, i will have to test drive both i guess...

i never would have thought to consider a mitsubishi, evos seem to be built ok

Evo's are having the same amount of problems as the new subaru's. Dont let magazine's or people over the internet tell you want you want, goto the dealership and take a test drive to see which one you prefer better. They are both great cars, I used to own a 05sti and got a good deal for my 08sti, I do miss the 05 but I love the 08sti.

Yea I saw the video. Confirmed what I already thought. The Evo whooping the mess out of the new 08 STI in looks as well as performance. They might not be built well atleast they look better. Just not loving the hatch on the STI sorry 08 guys.

It's funny how JC thinks the 08STi drives and looks like crap. He even pointed out how it didn't stay on the correct line and went 'sideways like a 1970 rally car' on the last 2 corners. The result did make him 'look such an old man'

In the completely biased review it got bashed, but won in the "perfromance" section of the show, while costing (over there) over $20,000 less then the FQ360 model they used to ramp on it during the review section.

They didn't use the FQ360 in the lap time test so that 20k more cost argument is out the window. If they did use the FQ360 it would have destroyed the 08 around the track but at 20k more I would hope so.
