Default New bits: Cusco, Stage 2, KW, Harman TBE, Advan RS's

I'll throw this in a journal soon, will do when I get the new seats and harness bar in along with brakes. For now, just picked up my stage 2 from Harman last night and I am in love with my car even more now. A quick thing about Harman, being new to Subie's I am amazed at how well they run their shop and how fast and professional they are. If you are in SoCal I think it's a no-brainer your car has to go there.

Sorry for the bad pics, will put better ones up when I get the car out somewhere nice and clean it.
  • Advan RS 17x9 +35 / Nitto NT01 255/40/17 unshaved
  • KW Clubsport V3's - identical track setup to Dan's time attack 08
  • Cusco front rear strut bars
  • Harman front rear sway bars
  • front end links, bushing kit, caster bushings
  • Harman CAI
  • APS BOV
  • Harman TBE
Car rides better than stock, very planted, almost zero bodyroll, suspension and bits work to keep car settled. Reminds me of how tuned BMW's feel like on the street. I was expecting a bit more harshness but it just feels a bit cushy and at the same time very well mannered...can't wait to get her out to Buttonwillow.

Combo of 17" wheels and tires dropped 10lbs PER CORNER lol. Car feels different from that alone, whole car sits lower from the lower diameter of the tires/wheels.

Stage 2 tune feels better than stock, nothing new to report here other than for some reason my baseline power and torque were the highest they've measured. I think I was at 241hp/245ft-lbs dry bone stock on their dyno. Ended up like the other stage 2's at 273hp/292 ft-lbs which I don't know what translates to in marketing-crank numbers. 3something hp and 370ish ft-lbs torque?

APS BOV works perfect, not too loud, no weirdness. CAI allows for the turbo to be heard now (very nice). Car spools up around 2600rpms now at the same level my stock car was maxed out in torque at 3500rpms.

Yeah car looks best at night, I'll try and snap some pics tonight. And I can't say enough about Harman...what a great shop - I'm actually a little taken back at how they did exactly what they said they were going to in the time given, and everything works as planned and better than stock. That normally doesn't happen in the aftermarket world.

nice choice on suspension bits..
not sure why you didnt go with legal adults but.... tuck that thing down now..

the new chassis and suspension layout takes much better to a lower stance that the 04-07's..
slam it, take more images, go to buttonwillow or your nearest canyon.
im too far from socals canyons now, someone's gotta take advantage for me.

I don't into the canyons unless I'm in the supercharged Elise Heavy cars that don't rotate that well don't mix well with canyon wall drop offs lol. I will be taking this car for a shakedown soon, eager to feel what it does at the track and out of some of the off camber turns at BW.

I don't know if I can go that much lower before the suspension geometry gets a little funky - on the street it shouldn't be a problem but I like to set things and forget it for the track. I'll see how the tires hold up and if I need anymore camber, but mostly want to see if they rub at all. Harman rolled the rear fenders and with the lower overall diameter of the 17's it gives me a little room to play with on the top of the tire. But just from what I feel on the street it's got just the right amount of play and grip. In person it looks much lower, I just don't have a nice SLR with the right lense - but overall it looks amazing

Where the heck did you get that info from?????? In our testing and measuring, it's even worse to lower this chasis than the last without problem geometry correction.

Definitely DO NOT slam this car if you want it to handle well.

Tony,

What were your findings in regards to lowering and geometry? Did you measure the bump and droop travel vs the previous chassis?

directly from quirt crawford, while discussing their time attack car / the 08 in general as well as reading about these facts in other areas.

"slamming it" might have been an overstatement... but it jus seems that way from what i've heard..
if you have some distinct facts, feel free to post them.. i would be interested. as for right now, these are the facts that i have.

Rice car...umm I mean nice car! JK I really like the stealthy DGM w/black rims, looks like it means business. I wonder if CAI and BOV are keeping you from making more power, especially since most stage 2's are in the 290hp/310tq range?

The numbers are meaningless unless done on the same dyno - my car runs consistent with other protuned stage 2's done on Harman's dyno, I actually think I got a little more ~10hp from the CAI. They'll post something on the blog soon.

Snapped some more pics today while I got my V1 hardwired today:

i still must stand behind my thoughts of 18's on this or any 08sti and lower.

you ever think about heatcoating your axel back portion a medium gloss black, all the way to the tips? it would look real legit an stealth on your car.

eitherway.. have fun with it.
