I really want an STi but I don't want to finance. I "could" spend more then 35k but I really don't want to.

I know dealerships make money off financing but if I'm paying cash do you think I can hit a dealer at the end of the month and scoop one up for 35k or less OTD.

I'll be looking to buy next year May. What are the chances there will be holdovers of 08 until then. I was thinking of getting a slightly used one as well (might be my best bet).

Below are the options I wanted to get:

Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price: $34,995 Optional equipment and other items: GRAPHITE GRAY ALCANTARA WITH CARBON BLACK LEATHER BOLSTERS / ASPEN WHITE -- GOLD BBS WHEELS AND NAVIGATION $3,800 MANUAL 6-SPEED $0 CARPETED FLOOR COVERS $88 ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS $60 AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR/COMPASS WITH HOMELINK $250 KEY CHAIN (STI) $10 STI VALVE STEM CAPS $15 SUBWOOFER/AMPLIFIER $270 BUMPER COVER SW $50 BAG-CAR COVER $10 DESTINATION AND DELIVERY $645 Total Suggested Retail Price $40,193 (Accessory price does not include
What do you guys think? Am I smoking rocks, LOL?!

Guys,

FYI, I recently bought a Tribeca. Being a current Subie owner, I reached out to SOA to see if there was an owner's loyalty program. There is, (not advertised) and they offered me a 500 dollar check if a new Subaru was purchased.

Just got that check today. Thanks SOA! I plan to re-use this tactic when I get the STI.

This is outside of the dealer, call SOA directly to get this going.

I paid $32800 for a base STi with iPod adapter, Subwoofer, Auto dimming mirror, cargo nets, and all scheduled service/maintanence free for 2 years. That put it ~1K below invoice counting the extras.

look outside orange county, you wont get a good deal here. go to sherman oaks san bernardino, bob baker or chino valley if you want a good deal. but you could try puente hills

Glad to see people are actually getting invoice or near invoice prices.

Seeing that the 2009 STI will be almost identical, i'm going shopping for an 08 and shooting for a completely base STI for invoice.

My only worry now is the problems with the 08s...

i paid invoice. i decided that i wanted what i wanted and as long as they obviously weren't ripping me off i was comfortable with what i was paying. the dealership threw in Zylon exterior and interior protection for the life of my car, wheel and tire protection, and i almost got a happy ending from the lady in the parts department. i didn't overpay, but i was happy with what the dealership gave me. (regardless i have to travel 5 hours to take advantage of this now)

Sweet. We have an 04 Forester XT for my wife and I may be getting an 08 STI next weekend. Any special number that you called for the retention program? Or just the main SOA number. Did you ask for any special department or just tell the rep you were looking at a new Subaru? Thanks.
