Default Trade-in value for 08 STI?

Kelly Blue Book doesn't list 2008 STI's yet. Any idea how much a 2008 STI (BBS+NAV) w/ ~2k miles would be worth on a trade-in?

I don't have any hard data, but I would guess it'll be worth at least $5,000 less than you paid for it and maybe as much as $8,000 dollars less.

I've heard that a car loses 20% of its value the minute you drive it off the lot. So for a $40,000 car that's $8,000.

From a dealership's point of view they now have the unenviable task of trying to sell an '08 STi with 2,000 miles on it as opposed to another '08 STi with virtually no miles on it. The only way to do that with all other things being equal is with a lower price.

For an 07 in excellent condition with 2k is 27xxx.xx so I would imagine that it would be atleast 3-4k more than that taking into account the increase in msrp

actually in so cal, i've had subaru dealers calling me about my 07 asking if i still have it - and offering my asking price (which was $29950), or more. they say that they're in high demaind, especially the SWP, and mine only had 8700 miles on it when i listed it for sale.

i'm happy i sold it how i did though, the new owner is a good guy and at least now i know where it went (to a good home) instead of to a dealer where it has the potential to be picked up by some whiney kid with dad's money.

i know this isn't very helpful for you attempting to get a value on an 08 trade-in, but yeah... info none-the less... and a free bump!

If you are serious take it to carmax and get it appraised for free. They will offer you more then a dealership but less then if you were to sell it on your own. Once they appraise it you do not have to sell it to them.

Why are you asking?

Also, about the 07's value... every time I drive my car onto a Subaru lot the owner/gm/sales manager is licking his chops wanting me to trade in.

WHAT?! Carmax is the biggest ripoff in the history of car dealers. I couldn't disagree with this more...a Subaru dealer will definitely give you more than carmax.

Check your local CarMax page. There was a black STi with BBS with 6,000 miles goping for $32,000. Saw it for one day, then it was gone.

Thanks for the input guys. There are no Carmax's around here. Everyone's speculation is about equal to mine.

My job is ~45 miles away from where I live. When gas is $6/gal, I'll have a hard time justifying not trading in the STI to buy a hybrid. I'm still not sure if I want to trade it in. At this point, I'm collecting information.

I posted this on another forum about saving gas.

my sti sits in the garage while I take a $1000 1988 toyota celica to work.

I drive 46 miles a day and put in $25 a week.

I keep it under 65mph and draft SUV's and semi's when ever I can.

I calculate I'm getting over 40mpg.

Driving to compton everyday for work is not fun, even with the sti. I'd rather be doing it with a $1000 beater and not worry about rock chips, dings, getting rev'd on my civics, etc. Actually, with the sti, I get rev'd on by 335i's. lol
