Default Have a cobb AP question

So, I just ordered mine 2 days ago, and its here now. I got it from perrin, and plan to use the 92 oct stage 1 map they provide. My question is do I have to do the update through cobb, and will that affect the perrin map that is on there? Or do you think that it will already be the latest update, and is there a way to check it if so?

Thanks guys!

You HAVE to do the cobb firmware update before it will even work... plus, the new firmware has many cool new features!

Do this:

-Install the AP manager

-Add the map that on the AP, to your AP manager library

-Update Firmware

-Put the map from the library, back onto the AP

Okay, sounds pretty straight forward. Is the ap manager in the disc it comes with? Also, there is no way I can lose the map right? Im not so good at all this stuff haha..

Yeah, it's on the disk...

When I did the firmware update, I actually retained all the maps that WERE on it before the update... I deleted them off the AP, and re-added them anyway...

Also, it's been common lately for people to have the firmware update "lock up" when it's about half way...

LEAVE IT BE! Let it sit for like 20 minutes... and although it appears frozen, it's still updating.

After 20 minutes or so, you'll finally have to just hit "cancel" and it will say:
Quote:
"Are you SURE you want to cancel? Doing so may cause your AP not to work and have to get sent in!"
Hit cancel anyway, then check the firmware version in the "about" menu on the AP itself... should be the newest. Cobb's aware of the issue apparently...

I didn't at first... and it wouldn't load...

I then realized that Perrin specifically says to do ALL updates before starting. Then it all worked fine!

The Cobb maps will NOT dissapear, unless you delete them... same with the Perrin maps... just transfer copies into your map library...

(it will all make sense when you start doing it)

When you click on the AP on the left... it should show a list of ones you've ADDED to the AP, besides the ones that came on it from the factory...

Under library, you should see a list of ALL maps, including the cobb ones... If you don't have your perrin map on the AP for some reason, they'll E-mail it to you easily.

I'm trying to explain all this by memory... I'm at work... I might have it mixed up, but I know I opened a page that had ALL the maps listed...

Maybe that was after I updated the firmware?
