Default Roof Vent?

Curious, anyone here tried one on their 08 yet? I like the look and prefer to run w/ no AC when possible...

It should be possible with the previous years model but in my brief feel around the roof w/ the map light removed, the front mounting holes would have to be drilled as well as the back

JDM Blog Entry w/ vent on 08 STI

Thoughts? Am I nuts?

The vent looks cool - but can I ask if you prefer to run without AC because of how much gas it uses? There were a couple studies a few years ago that showed that in modern cars the drag from driving with your windows down uses more gas than using the AC. I'm not sure how much drag the scoop would create in relation.

...it's a rally air scoop. Looks cool, probably feels cool, but you lose your map lights, and you gotta have balls to dremel or punch out your roof. Do it right and there are some local guys who have never had a leak in rain/snow/etc.

Yeah, and it was dramatically more fuel usage too, not even close. I hear ya about the fresh air though.

I'm probably going to end up writing an addendum to one of the great DIY guides to fit this one the 08 when I get it on. I'm still in the planning stages but I'm pretty confident it should be simple. Seeing at least one GR chassis with it on there is pretty good proof that its doable... so we'll see.

Fresh air...isn't that what the windows are for? Unless you are in a competitive racing situation where you remove your A/C and replace your windows with always up lexan panels I see absolutely no use for putting this eyesore on the 08...or any other car for that matter. If it is your thing and it makes you happy then I say go ahead with it...since of course you started this thread in hopes of getting my permission

have you ridden in a car with one equipped? I personally like the look and may even go full scoop style just cuz I'm a fan of WRC but honestly it's night and day compared to running with the windows down. I live in Oklahoma "where the wind comes sweeping down the plain" and seriously even with the window just cracked if you get up to speed you have a blast of force to the side of your head which isn't pleasing at all. Without full shades you can barely keep your eyes open which isn't even safe

The roof vent creates a really smooth full cabin cooling that doesn't feel like a blast because its comin from above and not straight into your face.
