Default Am I deaf? Stereo is not loud enough...

40 ain't cutting it sometimes (especially with the windows down). Anyone else in the same boat? I've NEVER EVEN considered replacing the stock speakers until now. I have no idea how much it would cost to upgrade them (also if I get new speakers, can I adjust the gain from the stock NAV unit)?

I have a VERY loud exhaust and an EWG and I never even get my stereo past 35 even with the windows down. You need to get your hearing tested.

I have had the same prob and my radio has been cutting out over bumps. I also find it weird cause when I play a CD it is significantly louder than the radio.

Couple things to consider. If you are playing an MP3 format on the cd, the quality of your burn may be less then optimal. I'd check the kbs on those MP3 songs.
Radio signals usually aren't as clear as a CD, so CDs usually sound louder.
Tune the equalizer with Tre all the way up and bass about 2 levels less than the max; shift sound without F/R bias (neutral).
Last thing to do would be to get a new set of after market amps with new speakers.
Last resort, keep the windows up
I rarely play over 25 with the windows up.

Hey nawww, man im with you. These others guy dunno what their talking about lol Well for me coming from a 3000 dollars sound system this stock stuff aint cutting it for me lol Like my head unit in my old car max was 35 and the max on this 08 unit at 40 sounds like my 10 But just replace them thats what imme doo pretty soon. I heard the infiniti's you dont even need a amp for it so you should try it out.

p.s your not def cause its not even loud for me and i can hear a persons heart beating lol

i think it depends on what your listening to like elvick indicated. some mp3s are really weak, at 128kbs. i usually burn the 320kbs mp3's. and when you burn, i you have the luxury of time, then set the burn rate at min or slow as posible for the best burn. fast burns tend to have errors from my experiences. i still find myself listenting at around 30-35 on those mp3's... everything else radio and cd, im at around 30. i think i miight be hearing impaired...

Depends on the source material. For quiet passages in jazz or classical, 40 can be barely acceptable at speed. For rock, 40 can be pretty damned loud, which proves the amp can out out the juice. My guess is the SOA lawyers don't want anyone going deaf on their watch, or they would have made it possible to increase the gain for quiet source material. I'm guessing you might be able to tune the EQ to get some more, but I haven't bothered to try (yet).

Stock sound sucks on any subie, IMO. Some simple aftermarket component speakers, and an amp will set you good.

Using my Zune2 80gb at MAX out 20/20 and the NAV AUX Volume at 40/40 it's not that loud as compared to having a CD in the NAV CD 25/40 volume.

I am very dissappointed that the NAV Unit AUX input isn't more sensitive.

40 shouldn't be the max, and to those that can listen to the radio under 15, I wish I had your virgin ears. The stock stereo is f$#cking worthless.
