Default Painting 2008 STI with light...(pic)

What do you guys think? I'm going to reshoot it tonight with a better background...the black gets lost in the trees.

Thanks, guys. Yep, it's in CA. So for most of the time, black is a pain. It's dusty here, heat, etc. But when it's clean...I love it. I'd just gotten through waxing it. It's a fun way to shoot a pic at night though. Basically, you use a long shutter speed, no flash, and simply walk around the car with a flashlight (with neutral color) and "paint" the areas you want to show up. Gives it a nice glowing effect.

Sure. Canon 5D w/ 24-70 USM 2.8 lens @ f/11 for ~50 seconds. ISO @ 100. Focal length was 35mm.

If you're going to try this, see if you can get a Surefire flashlight at a sports store. They're super bright (60+ lumens) and you can get them for $30. Just wear dark clothes and don't stand still too long!

Next time we'll wet the concrete as well.

Great pic... it makes me miss ca and having a digital cam that isn't broken. I like how you can see the interior really well

Thanks guys. One thing I forgot to mention, is as soon as the shutter opened, I hit the unlock button on the key fob, which turned on the interior and gave the running lights a little flash. A few seconds later I hit the lock button on the fob while painting with the light.

Glad you guys like it. If you have a digital cam, a tripod, and a decent flashlight, you can have a lot of fun!

Sweet picture! That's a really cool effect, "painting" w/light! Sounds like a lot of fun to be able to take shots like that.

minotek, I checked out those websites really quickly... interesting shots & coloring. I like how they choose to accent certain aspects of the picture that in normal light, you wouldn't pick up as easily. I think I like the natural colors better though (like the OP's pic posted) instead of all the red/green/yellow shots from the websites. Good stuff nonetheless.
