Default Gauging interest for 08 STI parts......( lowering spring update page 2)

As we near the intro of our mild lowering springs, Regular Guy sways, lowering and non lowering camber plates and other suspension components, we wanted to get feedback from you guys who are living with the car day in and day out. Yes I have spent alot of time in the 08 already and have my opinions, but have kept them to myself so far and wait to hear your feedback on what you want and what you feel the car needs.

Thanks for your support.

LOCALS needed......

Oh and btw....I need a 08 STi for 48 hrs. Un molested, no power mods, nothing on it, no stickers, just plain Jane. In return, your car will be lower when you get it back and you will have a set of our prototype lowering springs that we will base our production version off of. Our insurance covers your car while I have it. Purpose is NOT to fling it around and abuse it, but to take ALOT of pics and get TONS of measurements.

So 48hrs with RCE =lowered 08 STI+ full tank of gas and a Tastycake.

Let me know.

Myles

You can have my car. I'm flash stage1 but I'll go back to stock for ya if you like.

Personally, I'd like some lowering springs, sways, and I'd be happy. So if I can do anything to help out get these on the market, then by all means!

Bigs sways! Or just any sways at all. Bigger than 25mm if possible.

Simple stuff, need a nice gauge pod. I've got an idea for one if you've got the manufacturing connections.

Midnit I need a larger version of your avatar ASAP!

Us auto-x guys need a 27 - 29 mm front bar ASAP I would even prefer a 30mm, but would settle for a 27 adjustable to 29. I'm on the verge of having my buddy make me a bar. The 08 sti sway bar is pretty much a straight bar with the bends at the end. They are by far the easiest to install of any previous years sti. Oh and if you guys do make one, Waktasz and myself are readily available to give you track and auto-x feedback.

This is more from the perspective of a hard-driven DD, which I think describes a lot of STIs:

The front end needs more grip. Even running everything else in the suspension stock, the first thing I would add would be front camber plates to allow a more neutral setup. Driving fast on my daily commute really shows this: tight, twisty uphill followed by tight, twisty downhill. On the uphill side, it's not hard to neutralize the understeer by changing the balance with the throttle. On the downhill side, this is a lot harder do... the speed gets out of hand before you exit long turns and you end up pushing the front no matter how you play it.

I think some options in streetable anti-roll bars would be next: front and rear. I'm thinking in the 22-24 range. Since there are no rears now, that is especially needed.

Finally, something needs to be done about the steering. Very vague and overboosted feeling just off center. I think different rubber is likely to help, and I'm willing to try some harder bushings too, but I'm not sure the root problem is that simple. Understanding and solving this problem would make the car a much better drive.

Shifting could be better, 2-3 especially seems clunky, partly because that is one I want to hit quickly and smoothly every time, and I'm hoping some new bushings will help with the rubbery resistance I experience sometimes.

After those things, I'd like to see where the car is. If I still wasn't happy, I'd be looking at some nice coilovers: either T2s or TIC probably.

This is very good, very good. Our bars will be more middle road than extreme that much I know. I also know another leading (cough) vendor/manufacture is making a rear bar that you guys will LOVE. I wanted to do that, but I think they have a good thing going already.

We will do 2 different lowering springs again. Bars are already in the process and will have infor within 30 days or less.

Camber plates are due to us this week. Lowering and non lowering.

I am saving this info you guys have asked for and we are reviewing it and adding to our list of objectives. We are VERY happy to see these responses and to behonest have a better feeling now about the 08 enthusiasm for sure.

+1 for a big bar.

From the photos I've seen I'm a HUGE fan of how simple they made the sway bar work on the 08s. I just spent a good 6 hours this weekend under my 05 removing all my parts so I can trade it in and some of the things they did on the GD chassis just annoy me to no end, especially with the sway bar mounts + install.

Now I just need to get my 08 and I can also provide some feedback. I just need to be a less sucky driver first.

I tend to lean more towards middle-of-the-road when it comes to sways and slightly more aggressive with springs. I never had the chance to buy the RCE yellows but I did have 24mm Whiteline sways (solid bar) on and loved them. If anything, I prefer to have stiffer springs than what many would call a "bandaid solution" with sways; I know the autox guys have limits on what they can use in the stock class though. If I want to go hardcore, I'll get coilovers, so 24mm sways (solid) suit me just fine.

So for me, I want to see non-lowering camber plates, track-oriented springs with mild lowering, and 24mm adjustable sways. Any time frame on the RCE springs?
