The question I have is, do the rally armor mudflaps prevent the rock chips to the rear quarter panel flares?

Hi Steye

Prior to our launch- our 08+ Impreza setups were extensively tested both under harsh wintry street conditions here in the NE with very good results:

To each their own - we were sharing our results from our extended STI testing winter testing in response to STEYE's question posed.

Our mud flaps complement the Impreza body style quite well, provide an additional level of protection, and a great rally finish to boot.

I couldn't agree more.

Dude, I totally agree. I know they're popular, and I know they show the "Rally Roots", but they're UGLY. There has got to be a better solution.

the bettery solution is A) get it clear bra'd. B) have it repainted. C) stay of dirt/salt roads. D) get a winter beater car. or E) stop crying about it enjoy the car and dump the ****er in 2 years for a new one. (this is what im doing.)

i got my rock chip towards the top center of my right rear door... im not so sure that anything could have prevented that from happening. even if i clear bra'ed my whole rear door, it could have prevented the chip of the paint, but i doubt it could of prevented the dent that it left...

i also noticed the part on my car that has the clear bra (front of the rear fenders) that the clear bra's edge keeps getting dirty and has a black outline when the car is dirty. its especially apparent on a white car.

the only solution i can think of is not driving your car at all... like anchorpilot already suggested

I live on a dirt/gravel road, so I'm probably a good test case. DGM 08, 1100 miles over the last three weeks, mostly highway driving. It's hard to prove a negative, but looking at the side and spray patterns, I believe that my RA mudflaps have prevented a hell of a lot of potential paint chipping. That said, while putting on the Meguiars yesterday, I still found two good-sized chips (3mm) out of the leading edge of the rear quarter panel, down to the primer. I plan to show it to the dealer the next time I'm in and put in a claim for a touch-up kit to start with, and get it into SOA as well.

By the way, I happen to really like the way the mud flaps look. Grey on black looks great on DGM.
