Default unsolicited comments from the public

I own a 2008 red one. I've had two people (so far) shout to me from other cars, saying how they liked it. One guy was unfamiliar with the model, but recognized the Subie star badge. He said, "Is THAT a Subaru?" Yep. "Man that looks real fine". Thanks.

Another guy new exactly what it was and made a point of manuevering thru traffic up to me at a light and said he really liked it and asked "Is it fast"? Yeah, it'll go.

I'm on the high side of the avg age on the IWSTI board, and I've owned a few cars. Never had anybody make comments like that before. Very cool.

Awsome man. It's just siick to have these cars. A couple minutes ago I was turning right at a light. And one of those traffic directors was standing there. I see him lean down(thinking hes gonna tell me im doing something wrong) and he goes "I have an 04" And we talk for a minute. Just so random. I love it!

this car gets wayyyyy too much un wanted attention. i've nick named my "aw" as "attention wh0re". just today, a mazdaspeed3 owner at a light gave me the thumbs up, i returned back to him. a couple times, i've found people standing next to my car when i returned to it from the store and answered a few questions here and there. you'll keep getting the attention cuz it hasn't stopped since i got my car in jan this year.

I have received a bunch of great, random responses from various people. but my favorite was from a fat guy stuffed into a riced-out Honda Civic with unpainted body work and a fender dragging on the ground. He gave me a big 'ol thumb's down as i drove past! Definitely one to remember lol. Priceless

I had some guy in a pickup truck roll down his window and laugh at me at the stoplight, and then when I sped off and was in the turn lane, he drove by a couple lanes over and I heard the echo of his laughing. lol. wtf?

I had a guy walk up to me in a gas station and ask what size engine was in the car. I told him it was a 4 banger turbo and he then asked what the speedo went up to. I had to check cause I honestly didn't know, and found it said 160mph. He replies "it'll go faster then that." I gave him this surprised, puzzled look and he told me he was doing 160mph in his Lexus and he got passed by one of these. I'm guessing it was heavily modded, but I'll probably never find out if it can for myself!

My wife and kids feels like a celebrity everytime we drive around. They keep saying that the people from the other cars (or streets) are taking pictures of us...i told them it's Scoobie Blue they are taking pictures of...not us.

Strange thread title, but I enjoy the random appreciation the STI garners.

Funny how I'd love the car just as much if people thought it was the ugliest thing made, but it is a nice boost to my own appreciation in receiving so many positive comments from passerbyers.

I just came back from a call to the station, and found a guy in an SRT Neon, in the parking lot, looking at my car.. I don't really like that too much.

I had a valet guy ask me "is this a special edition impreza?"

I was like, "uh... yeah."

Then he's like "is it limited edition?"

I was like "uh... no."

Then he said, "oh so it's just special then..."

"uh... yeah...."

It was a weird conversation! I wondered if he knew his cars and was asking if it was a spec-C, or just had no clue. I'm leaning toward the later... :P

My best one so far with the 08, had just parked in the medical centre and this little white-haired old lady who had to be well into her 70's walked by, then backed up and started asking me about the car. what model, who made it, that kind of thing. I even gave her a look inside, told her the WRX version has an auto box since she didnt drive stick. She said she loved the blue color.
