Default Really dumb question: How to reset stock ECU multiplier?

With my old wrx and the AP, all I had to do was change the map and the ECU would be reset, I could drive it like a madman (or do the 5th gear push on an empty highway) and I could max my multiplier.

My question is, how do you reset the ECU on the new '08 STi's? Any other strategy on maxing that multiplier?

Thanks.

Doesn't the AP v2 allready do that for you when you flash the map over?

WHy would you want to do this? If you have a problem and the multiplier is being pulled, resetting it and artificially upping it via the methods described will only cause greater issues down the road. If the multiplier is not at full, then something is wrong with your setup or tune.

And on the same note...how do you know it isn't already?

The STi ECU is stock, and for now I don't plan on changing that. I just spent the first 1000 miles driving this car under 4000 rpm, and babying it. I imagine the ECU has set the multiplier at a very low level after observing my grandma-esque driving habits. So my purpose is to reset that multiplier, drive like I would normally now that it's over 1000 miles, and have the multiplier maxed so it performs better. Make more sense?

That's not how it works at all.

Just pull the negative lead off your battery and hit the brake pedal, then reconnect the negative. Or you can just reflash your realtime map to reset the ecu. Either way, you will be losing all of your learned fuel trims. If I were you, I'd just drive the car hard and datalog to see what the multiplier does. You really don't want to force it to 1 if there is something legitimately keeping it from rising. How do you know you aren't at 1 already?

Thanks! I don't know for sure, but I had a hunch that it would be lower just based on the fact that its brand new, and I drove it very timidly for the first 1000 miles. It was my understanding that those fuel trims were created using driving habits as a basis.

I'm of the opinion, that if you drive the car timidly, it doesn't break in properly. Drive it like you intend to daily drive it. Don't sweat the little things, just drive the car.
