We did a stage 1 tune vs stock on our in-house car back in January:

Stock 233hp, 240tq
Stage 1 240hp, 260tq

We use a Mustang dyno that reads low compared to more common Dynojet numbers. Look at the before and after comparisons more than the peak numbers. Our old DynoJet read about 13% higher than our current Mustang.

I am more looking at the change than your actual peak numbers. I know that different dynos read high or low etc. My car was run on a newer Dyno Dynamics. Thanks for the data, I saw a much greater change in my numbers from Stock to Stage 1 than you did, I know there are gains to be had by stage 2 as well. I guess I won't know for sure until I run it on my own car.

Thanks again guys.

Wouldn't the exhaust with tuning be Stage 2? Those numbers are EXACTLY in line with my setup...stock catback with Cobb catted DP with Az/Ca/Nv 91 Stage 2 map...confirmed on the very same dyno at HM.

Yes, stage 2 at a minimum is a downpipe with tuning, but a full turboback with a protune will yield the best results.

Here's our actual graph from the baseline to the full Stage 2 protune:

Big gains in the lower RPMs when the turbo comes in and much smoother up top. Much better numbers and driveability as you can clearly see.

Have you guys done any dyno's with a CAI with your TBE or is it even worth it with a stock turbo?

WOW! That has to be the higest stock awhp on an 08 ever, I dont know other years since ive only been lurking 08+

and did you say that your dyno gives low #'s.

Every stock 2008 dyno results ive seen have been below 210awhp.

Usually there's a 25awhp difference between stock and stage1 but your's only showed 7awhp?

Is it just me or do these figures seem off?

OK... so here's my Harman story so far...

A week or so ago I stopped by Harman hoping to nab one of the exhausts as well as an AP. Dan was very professional and obviously very knowledgeable on the '08 and he answered ALL of my questions - and believe me I had a lot of things I wanted to pick his brain about. I very stand-up individual and a very nice shop. The exhaust was unfortunately out of stock but Dan suggested I go ahead and pick up the AP and I could at least run the Stage 1 until the exhaust came in. I never thought I could rationalize buying the AP just for a Stage 1 but maybe I'm changing my mind. I'm not sure the butt dyno registered any more HP but the car was sooooooo much smoother. This is the first thing that you will notice with the Stage 1. The second thing you will notice is that the power does not seem to fall off above 4500. It just has a nice strong linear pull and I'm convinced it adds a lot more area under the curve above 4500. So, perhaps not much more peak HP but it feels like it hold it a lot better in the upper RPMs.

Part 2: "The Install" in next Post.
