Default Fuel door getting stuck and not opening? Easy fix inside.

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this was posted elsewhere, but my buddy with an s2000 showed this to me, we tried it and it fixed the issue that I was having with my fuel door not opening when I pull on the fuel door latch. See the picture below, but there is a small aluminum piece that adds tension when you close the fuel door. Slightly pull/push back on the small aluminum lid to relieve the tension, thus making the fuel door latch insside the car work with a single attempt.

I just filled up yesterday and my fuel door didn't open. It seemed like all was working OK but I was by myself...how to troubleshoot?...so I put a small book to gently prop up the release lever and walked around the car. With minimal effort I was able to pry it open with my finger.

What I discovered was the plastic gas cap retaining string was caught under the tension thingy. I made sure it wasn't (just rotated a bit) when I closed again. I opened and closed a few times and it seems like it works fine now.

I was telling myself every time I fueled up to search the boards for a fix, and never could remember to search. Thanks for the revival of this thread. haha.
