Default $1000 below invoice realistic yet?

Guys, with the economy going the way it has, and the recent issues with the Stop Sale, I'm wondering if anyone has seen sub invoice pricing in the order of 500 dollars or more.

From a perspective of a buyer, I'm not worried about the recent issues of engine (they found the problem) or paint (get some plastic to cover) but many other potential customers will be more cautious after reading some of the issues.

So, has anyone seen under invoice yet?

Back 2 months ago (february) when I was buying mine, I was able to get 1200 UNDER invoice on a white with navi. Maryland. Let me know if you want a hook up I could probably get you a similar deal. Only thing was that I wanted the BBSers and so I ended up getting around 700 under.

Almost every dealer I have spoken with is at invoice. Some are even adveritsing at invoice, so I would guess 500 below is hardley out of the question. I have been keeping my eye on the inventory around here and the STIs are not flying off the show room floors. We will see what happens now that the stop sale order is over.
I am holding out for 1000 below invoice but I may have to settle for 500 as I am starting to jones for an new ride.

Take care,

Wow HASTIhach. That is the best deal I have heard of yet, nice job! Did you have to pick one off the lot or were they willing to order you one at that price?

i was offered 300 below with no haggling. I'm going to ask for at least 1000 under when I go back. If I can't get that, I've got a nice enough car already...maybe I'll see what the 09 brings.

The 1200 below was on the lot--it was White w/ BBS only (not navi, sorry, made a typo earlier) I was SO close to just saying screw the navi, and I'll buy my own, but I really, really wanted the stock navi. Lights up all cool with "SUBARU" in the beginning.

What happened was the following...Dealer A had White w/ BBS only and initially they were selling it for 700 under invoice. I wanted BBS + Navi, so I brought the offer to Dealer B that had White w/ BBS + Navi. They said they couldn't do the 700 below, but they'd do 300 and throw in a $400 service package where every other oil change is free on life of car, and discounted maintenance at the dealer, and some other goodies. So I said, OK, let's do it; and got it for the 300 below + the 400 dollar service package. BUUUUUUT... when I went back to get my deposit from Dealer A, they said they'd give me another 500 off!!! And would have given me 1200 below... it would have been on the BBS only... but damn...nice deal. I was still happy w/ the deal I got. Remember, at the end of the day, it's just 500 bucks. 700 bucks. Maybe even a grand. In the scheme of things, it's not the difference between an STi and not having an STi. SO don't let that stop you! And believe me, I am BROKE right now, but I make it happen however I can!

i dont know what you american guys class as invoice price, but i just bought my white sti with nav for 7500 less than drivaway price (cost of car plus options plus taxes/registration/transfer etc) of 69800 aust dollars.

so thats more than 10% discount, so yeah i would say there are some deals to be had at the moment!

It might be because people like me won't buy a car with miles on it. If I'm paying this much money for a car I really don't want a car that people have ragged on.

I wish I could say that were true...but in the DC area where I got mine, they would NOT let me test drive it... mine had 10 miles on it. All of them did.
