I've been looking at every website in 50 miles of edmonds and nobody has stock of cars that aren't loaded up with Nav and BBS/fogs. It may be difficult to get them to dump the price down for a little bit because they just don't have the cars.

I think of the 5 dealers I looked at, there were only 2 STIs left and they were loaded.

When you guys are discussing "invoice", are you referring to MSRP/Sticker, or dealer invoice?

well.......invoice price as listed on the cars price sheet, which is less than MSRP, or found at edmunds.com. Seems dealers often actually pay less than this price for the car from the manufacturer, which I guess would be "dealer invoice".

Invoice we normally talk about is the dealer invoice, but it is quite common for a holdback to be factored into this price. So the actual amount the dealer ends up paying is a certain percentage below the invoice price we get to see.

I love all this out the door talk, but I've never had a dealer willing to pay the tax or fees. I bought early so I can't complain about what I paid which was 300 over invoice for a base model. In Oregon, there is no sales tax and fees are cheap. So fess up guys, how much did you really pay for the car including tax and fees?

Since taxes, title, and fees vary depending on location and other factors, why does it matter to you what they are? We talk about invoice pricing so we have a common point of reference. do you want to know the amount financed and the total at the end of the loan too? does it really matter?

+1. Always negotiate your trade separately from your final purchase price. Be keen to phrases such as "I can allow said price for said trade" Never talk about allowences. Negotiate the price of the vehicle first then your trade second, but never at the same time.

I stand corrected and it's true it probably doesn't matter. I consider the tax and fees just as much a cost of purchase, but in the context of the discusson should be ignored. My apologies.

I'm jealous, you probably win on getting the low price when everything is tallied up.

I went on subaru .com and clicked on each dealership withen 200 miles of me. Went to there website and filled out the dealer quote. In the additional options I put in a 4 paragraph explanation on what I want and expect. I sent that to all the dealers one at a time.

Most have came back with an offer. Some the same, some way higher and a few right around where I want to be. One said they would pass on selling me a car O.o......

I've been getting similar results in SoCal. Most dealers that I contacted are dealing around invoice. Some on the other hand are telling me straight up that they would pass on selling me a car...

I've been getting anywhere from $500 over to $100 under invoice. I'm still looking.

I signed up for IMBA to get the 2% VIP discount, but that doesn't take effect until I've been a member for 6 months. 5 more months to go! 2% under invoice equates to about $700.

I think you can get it under invoice if you hold out. The dealership still makes money if they sell it for under invoice ,the invoice price you see is what the dealer pays interest on each month to Subaru. So when the dealer finally sell the car they may only pay 28k or less for a car with a 33k invoice price.

The thing I did was find a dealer that has had the same sti sitting on the lot for a while and go to them and work the deal . When I bought mine it was sitting on the lot for 60 days.

It also was the end of the month and my wife and I both bought new Subaru's and I think that bumped the sale man into a higher bonus bracket or something cause he was going out of his mind trying to get us to buy. I walked away like 4 times and finally I got it for what I wanted.
