Default When will the COBB Exhaust be ready!?!?!!?

I am completely bored with the stock set up and have decided to go full stage 2 to restore some "life" and "fun" to this car...One thing is holding up my plans - The Cobb Exhaust....Anyone have any idea when it's coming out? Any other exhausts that will do the job? I haven't driven my car in a month...just dropped it off at my parents house...I am dying to upgrade...The stock setup is boring.

A catback exhaust isnt going to give you much increase of power.

reread his post.... hes planning for Cobb's turboback and a stage 2 flash (is what i gathered).... its well worth it, just be patient i went w/ an angled n1 style muffler, and i love it, but now im wishing i could hear the Cobb in person because it might have been a better choice for me

Wow.

Kaneda, all you need is a DP to go stage 2, which Cobb has available now. Nothing is holding you back from that... just your parent's credit card.

Lol, I don't know your situation, but you set yourself up with your lame OP.

Actually the reason it's sitting at my parent's house is because I live in Manhattan, and unless any of you want to pay the $500 a month for parking that it cost by me, I'd rather spend that money on upgrades.

Want to hear something crazy...with my 04 STi, I bought it and over 3 years, the car lost $16,000 in value...over that same time period, I spent $18,000 for parking in Manhattan...****ing insane...this time around I think the money would be well spent on mods and my folks only live a half hour from the city.

Guys, you can't deny that the car in stock form is ****...can you? Really now, I've never driven a stock tune as bad as this...

But back on to my original post...will the TBE not give me much more? Even if I have it professionally tuned?

If you are going to get exhaust the AMR one is where its at:

AMR 2008 White STi - UPDATE: HYDRA 2.6 STAGE MAPS STARTED! PICS! - Post #261!

Unlke Cobb (which makes great products), its a TRUE dual exhaust and looks fantastic.

a tune should fix alot, i think AMR got a 56whp increase on a STAGE 1 protune, add an exhaust and i would say expect good things?

Check yourself
That's not a true dual exhaust.
It still merges into a Y pipe sucka.
You need a V motor for TRUE dual. That is just a gimmick with dual 3" piping which probably will MIGHT make more peak hp, but probably will make much less torque compared to other exhausts coming out.

You technically don't need a V for a true dual exhaust it's the lack of room and practicality that limits us, not to mention then needing two turbos (which would have to be smaller), not worth it at all. Aesthetically, the STI's dual exhaust suits it, regardless of the fact that it isn't a true dual. I must admit though, that pic of Jeff's car with the large single tips looks really awesome.

A full turboback probably won't yield that much over a really good free-flowing downpipe. On the "old" cars I think it was generally agreed that you pick up around 10-15whp by adding a catback to the downpipe. In terms of cost per-horsepower, I'd rather spend the money on a downpipe + Protune than just a turboback and no Protune.

One thing to consider, if you think you're going to go with a catback later on, things could get a bit tricky. Downpipes like the Cobb one taper down from 3" to 2.5" and join via a donut-gasket, where as most true 3" turbobacks have a flange and a bit of flexpiping. If you just get a downpipe right now, you'll be stuck in your choice of catbacks. This may or may not be an issue (and is probably something you already knew.)

True up to a point. I'll speculate since I know a little about what's going on but I betcha 10-to-1 AMR's exhaust gives you more overall gain than some of the other stuff floating on the web. I rather have the Y pipe all the way downstream which offers the most amount flow without going "true dual" (AS Digi mentioned you need twin turbo for that to make sense!).

I was being half-serious. =)
It was just amusing how much they tried to stress "True"
like I said honestly...it will probably get the most peak HP you could out of an exhaust setup..undoubtedly though i think torque would suffer compared to another exhaust..not sure how much could be gained back via tuning.
DigitalFiend, i know there would be no gains vs cost lol...that's why i thought it was funny to keep marketing it as such

If you want stage2 right now, grab a downpipe, or as Digital mentioned, wait a bit until you get a full turbo-back setup to prevent having a 3" -> 2.5" downpipe that will limit your CBE options.

Going off of GilMikalian's post here, if you purchase a downpipe now, you do NOT need a pro-tune, as Cobb's S2 OTS map pretty much nails as much power as you'll be able to make.

...on the stage 2 91 octane map. The 93 octane map could vary. I'm still waiting for a divorced wastegate downpipe for the '08. That would probably help with the boost creep some people have been reporting.
