Default Paint chip's / Obsidian Black Pearl Discontinued?!?!?

So I was at the dealership today complaining about all the chips in my paint and my salesman told me he just came from a class/ meeting on the paint problems, and that Subaru has stop painting OBP because of all the problems with the paint chipping. So it seems there will be no more black Sti other than whats out there now.

They also have kits out for free to stop the chipping in front of the rear wheels.
I also complained about my nose of the car and they are going to put in a ticked with SOA, My salesman told me to complain till they put on a venture shield on my car for free so thats what I plan to do.

So at least SOA is trying to do something about their crappy paint. Lets hope they fix the nose of my car not even 2k miles on it yet.

I don't trust salespeople.

When I was first looking at an STi in 04 he told me that they were going to detune the car for 2005 and that the 04 didn't come in black.

Until I see anything official posted from one of the Suabru insiders on NASIOC or here I'm calling BS.

I will only believe this when anyone gets a letter from SOA or dealership about this action.

Kinda why I posted it here to see if anyone else heard anything about it. The salesman called out the GM and service manager and they all said the same thing about the meeting.

"My dealer told me" that they will only install one of these kits on your car if you have damage, not before. If someone else gets this w/o damage please post up.

for free or at all? I might be inclined to pay the dealer for this if it costs less than having it done at a tint shop. Any idea what they would charge at the dealer for this official Subaru fix?

I didn't take it any further with them as I do not have the chipping damage on my rear quarter panels. I do however have it on my front bumper, which I was told was caused by normal wear and tear, at that time I had less than 1500 miles on the clock.

You mean having to wait until your damaged before they do anything about it? I would think that they would want to install it regardless, but it seems they'd rather take their chances on only the ones showing the problem.
