Paint chip's / Obsidian Black Pearl Discontinued?!?!? - Page 3

I have a 2008 STI OBP and I had to get the front half of my car re-painted at 3000 miles because I had so many rock chips that they couldn't touch up the car. I also now after getting the car back am beginning to get rock chips on the rear quarters. Subaru paint is absolutely terrible. I am so upset right now I am starting to wish that I had never bought the car because the paint is such a f***ing hassle. Not only do I have a rock chip problem but the paint in general is starting to get fine scratches from fingers, that are not washing out. I though at first maybe it was just oils from my hand but no I was wrong now its just cloudy smudges of finger prints. The car has 3400 miles on it. This shouldn't be happening this is ridiculous. What do I do from here I am really kind of lost.

: (..... I love the car I just want to kill the jack ass who said, " Lets use ****ty painting techniques and ****ty paint because it will cut cost! " that guy should be shot, burned and hung in the middle of SOA HQ.

Update:

Well I went back April 24th and still no kit for the rear fenders, service manager also has yet to hear a reply from SOA about the nose of my car.

I'm going to go back tomorrow and have a talk with the GM .I'm going to take him up on his offer to repaint the nose of my car and I'm going to twist his arm really hard like so I get a clear bra out of him also. If I'm not mistaken the paint would have to Breath/cure for a week or so before I could have the clear bra installed, Not 100% on that but its what I've heard before.

What makes me feel bad(in small way) is that its not the dealerships fault that Subaru paint blows ,yet they are gonna have to eat the cost of fixing my car I would think.

its not subaru's decision to use bad paint. the EPA has cracked down on all auto manufactures. the enviroment is the enemy, all new cars are going through this. SOA will have to fix this or their 5yr unlimited mileage corosion protection is going to be put through the mill. i ordered rally armor flaps before i got my car, as ugly as they are im not having this car repainted in its first year. as an added bonus clear bra in two weeks.

This car is painted in Japan - not sure what kind of jurisdition the EPA would have over there, even if the car is bound for the US market...

Did you guys with the paint issues do any kind of paint protection? I don't think you should have to, I'm just curious if you had these issues despite having plastic and mudflaps.

I didn't buy any paint protection, but I will complain till they put a 3m/venture shield clear bra on my car for free. Also before buying the car I told them about this problem and they said not to worry the paint is fine and shouldn't chip.

Well they are eating crow now and are gonna have to step up and fix my problem.

If I was to buy a new sti now I would demand they put on a clear bra for free or I'd walk out.

Man this paint issue is really bad. I wouldnt even consider getting a new STi now.

Thanks for the reply. Can you post pics? I'm picking up my DGM '08 tomorrow and taking it to the clear bra place on Wednesday. I'm really curious to know if people who have applied the clear bra are having issues. I've got flaps on the way too.

any vehicle built in any country for the U.S. market must pass all of our criteria before sale begins. this means the emissions, crash, and includes paint.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ DAYUMMM, efffffffffffffff im scared cause that looks ugly... these beezies better fix it, cause i know damn well that may happen to me. But i wanna do FLAT BLACK PAINT, how much does that cost?
