I talked to my sales guy today about the issues. I brought her in and showed all of the damage i've gotten in <800 miles. He was shocked to be sure, but had no real advice for me except to lodge a formal complaint with SOA. I'll be doing that as well, but I'm not expecting much from them.

I have a black 08 and I have noticed this also. 2700 miles and I already have a few good scratches and dings. The paint quality seems really low. I have a small square of film on the front of my rear wheelwells, that must be subaru's current "fix". Hopefully they will do more about this issue.

oops.... I wanted to quote your other post but ya, why would they want to wait until the damage is done and have to repaint when they could just install the clear bra.

Interesting reading. OP, keep us posted. My OBP is HORRIBLE. Chips everywhere, swirls from looking at it, etc.

Thanks for the info!

Oh I certainly agree there, just because my car doesn't have them yet doesn't mean it won't. Although, I do have mudflaps on it now I would still like it done if they are doing it.

I haven't had too many paint chip issues, however it's been swirled since I got it. Heard they were coming out of the factory like that.

No that small square is on all of our cars. The fix referred to in this thread is something beyond that.

Hey, instead of the kit, I am going to see if they will install my Rally Armor mudflaps for free... to me, that's better than whatever kit they give me...

Oh ok, I did not realize that all the 08's had the small square. Any news on what subaru is planning to do?

That's exactly what I'm doing, dropping the mudflaps off at the dealer today and picking the car up tomorrow with the mudflaps on.

why don't you guys install them yourself? Its not that hard and then you don't have to hand your car over.

Man, I think I'd much rather have Subaru install their fix and then put the flaps on myself.

thats if they will. I was offered the clear bra from my dealer for $900 I think and I turned it down. Had I known about the paint issue I may have taken it. but as far as installing mudflaps, I wouldn't leave my car at the dealer for something that easy.

I'm not trying to seem like a dick I just don't trust dealers after I took my car in once only to find multiple settings changed stuff messed up and an extra 5 miles on my car when they only had to move it in and out of the shop.
