If you just have them run a credit report on you to verify that you can FINANCE the car, most dealerships will let you test drive them.

I thought it was a far way to go myself to get a test drive for a Subaru, but honestly it was just a 5 minutes long hassle

Ah well, I thought that was standard procedure to get a test drive on most new cars? I went on a new car test driving spree a few months ago and at least half the dealerships wanted to check my credit.

I thought we were talking about dealerships that wouldn't let you take the car for a test drive under any circumstances.

When you are old and gray like me you don't have to get your credit checked for a test drive!

I haven't driven an '08 but I fully plan on buying one this week. I think the sales guy is going to insist I test drive it, so I will. I drove an '07 Limited recently but I know it's not exactly the same.

One reason it would be hard to get a test drive up here is that there's no cars in stock and people like me won't buy a car with more than a few miles on the odometer. If I'm paying this much for a car, I don't want some other guy to have hammered on my car first.
