I was wondering the same thing. I know the thread pattern is available from McGard but my concern is the degree of taper and whether it will match that of the stock BBSs.

Bump to see if anyone out there would know. I put a question into SOA but I'm guessing they're going to say "use the nuts you got"

McGard made the Subaru Wheel Locks for the old BBSs. Maybe give McGard a call and find out if they make them for the new ones. If they do, they'll be able to tell you if their spline drives will fit.

I use aftermarket nuts on my car. They haven't fallen off yet and they stay perfectly tight between events.

As I understand it the angles are the same, but the "tuner" lugs extend further towards the edge. Someone posted in another thread that they fit fine.

^^ Yep.

No I have the base wheels and also a set of CE28Ns. They are some super tuner nuts, I think by Muteki. They came with my wheels from Fizz Auto.

The McGards are fine on the older BBS, and I highly doubt Subaru changed their lugnut specification for the '08s.

Default Definitive Answer

Yes! Our friends at Cherry Hill responded to my inquiry re the lug taper on the stock BBS rims. They're 60 degrees which is the standard taper. This means we can use most all lug nuts made for aluminum rims. See SOA response below...

Hi Mr. Mikalian,

Thank you for your patience while we research your inquiry.

The taper angle for the BBS wheel is 60 degrees +/-1 degree. The thread information you provided is correct (M12 x 1.25 with 19mm hex size). (emphasis added)

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again. Thank you for the opportunity to be of service.

Best wishes,

Can someone post a pic or send a pic to me (send me a pm for address) of the 08 BBS wheel without a lug in it so I can see what it looks like. I went to the dealer and it looks like there is a washer or something behind the stock lug. Is this true?

Also, does anyone have a pic of a 08 BBS wheel with any aftermarket lug? Both closeup and a full wheel shot?

Thanks
K

i'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's the same as an 04-07 BBS. They did not powdercoat the raised area where the studs pass through the rim and the area around where the lugs seat against the rim. This is because the coating can be damaged and can flake off when the lug is tightened. As this coating flakes off, it can allow the lug to become loose because the lug is not seating properly. I'm sure it's also done for cosmetic reasons, no one wants paint flaking off their new rims when they tighten the lugs.

I just got my Mcgard Spline drive lugs today. The only problem is...I don't have my STI yet. It is ordered.

Thanks
