This particular WA cop wasn't a complete asshat. The lecture was given in an even tone and he wasn't a jerk about anything (plus didn't get jumpy when I handed him my concealed carry permit along with my other documents). I know they have a hard job, but I'd prefer they spend time nabbing people cutting it close at 80mph on the freeway or yakking on a cellphone while speeding through a neighborhood. Heck, go spend time in the Walmart parking and ticket people parking like tools or giving out door dings.

I have an old Cobra radar detector, but I don't trust it any longer. I will heed the thread advice and invest in newer model. I've pondering it for awhile now (maybe a smidge too long I suppose because it would have help in this situation).

Maybe the Bel RX65 or STi? I'll do a few searches and see what folks recommend.

I think you can do over 60 in the revised gearing they've had since 2007 ? I can't do past 56 in my 06 model, but I think they might have lengthened the gears long enough to hit 60 in 2nd. That's what I heard. Dunno though.

Same. Residential areas are off limits and I'm very aware of my speed etc. On those back farm roads though, I'm a little more enthusiastic...thank goodness most of them are 80km/h roads.

Actually, I'm not so much into the overall speed as I'm am with the cornering and acceleration out of the corners. Bursts of acceleration are more fun for me than overall speed.

The '08 is deceptively quick though. I pretty much always knew what speed I was doing in my '05, but with the '08 being quieter, the taller gearing, I find I tend to be going faster than I intended.

LOL.... never had a problem yet with any WA cop besides my neighbor who is retired but thats a whole nother story.

Nope, not today. I was at Jantzen Beach yesterday afternoon, but today I've been out in Hillsboro the whole day.

the 08's almost appear to be invisible compared to other vehicles i have owned... returned from a weekend trip today passed three leo's (in 700km's) traveling 15-20 km over posted & didn't even get a second glance, Brembo's prolly helped too

Consider yourself lucky. At least you get a "free pass." Your's truly got a ticket in his Miata 3 days before picking up the STI. Doh! I have to be good, or at least not get caught, for another 18 months!

Radar detectors do get us out of trouble sometimes, but then you got the cops just sitting there looking out on us. Too bad there's no cop detector!
