Like jnprn2003 mentioned, I would at least wait until next year when the 2009 models are released to make a decision. Potential issues have been noted with both new models. Personally, at this point, I wouldn't feel confident in purchasing either car after reading the rumors on iwsti and evom (even if they're not all true).

That would be grammar .

Normally I don't care a bit about grammar, but if you're going to torment the Evo guys, I figure it works better if you don't hand them easy ammo .

Is the '08 still using a metal gas pedal lever? I hope so .

my friend has an evo X. check this one out, if you start immediately, without keeping the key in the 'on' position for a few seconds, the car's idle is very rough. from what i hear about the breaking gas pedals and paint defects, i wouldn't sell myself so quickly. it's not an evo IX, it makes less power stock, is heavier, and IMO uglier. whether it outperforms the STI or not, the STI is still, again IMO, the better car. think hard

looks like hitman83 had something else to do... maybe he is still trying to find something that says the Evo has better acceleration.

Yea, but mitsu just came out with a free reflash that improves the tune and gives another 25 whp. And the reflash fixes the throttle position issues.

I just can't get past the less than 7 cubic feet of trunk space that only gets smaller with more options and there's no pass through. I need a DD with more utility than the evo can provide. And the broken gas pedal thing scares me a little. At least EVERY issue I've ever had with Subaru cars, with the exception of an AC leak stemming from a car accident, has been covered under warranty. Mitsu can't warranty a broken accelerator? Have fun with that.

Interesting. Why would mitsu do this? Maybe because their cars aren't selling ... I haven't seen a single Evo X on the road. And I drive/work around DC so I would expect to see one by now. To be fair though I haven't seen another 08 STi either. Maybe Subaru will offer a free reflash/upgrade because of the whole stop-sale.

lol... i agree 100% i read the magazines to see what i'm in for before i go to the dealership for a test drive. other than that i use the magazine reviews like i do with movie reviews... there's some douche that thinks he's a guru, but what it comes down to is my own experience/ preferences with the car.
~~i have yet to see an Evo X on the road, and the same goes with the '08 STI. my buddy said he's seen a new STI out around the airport, but the only thing i've seen are Evo MRs and '07 STIs.

Its mainly to fix the throttle position issue, but i guess there was issues with the tune in the stock form. I don't think a reflash would be used to get more customers....just now its going to actually be making the power its advertised to have :P.

Yea the hatch is something big for me, although compared to the price I could pay for an evo w/ a nice sound system and nav and enkei wheels and recaro's, which is like 32.5, I would likely save 5-6 grand over the sti, and then I would also save in modding because more with less.

So I guess the question is do I want to fork over more for the STI and ultimately have less, just because its an sti and I like it / support subaru and the community behind it. I dont know. Its a war going on in my head right now.

Got a link for that?

The only link I found is:
Factory Reflash X - evolutionm.net

That's +14whp not +25whp, no idea of the torque difference because it isn't shown. Also:

Quote:
Here is a before and after comparison with and without the TSB. The original runs were made a few months ago when the X first came out.
Cars can easily dyno differently with that many months separating the runs. Different quality gas, weather, whatever.
