OOH. I want. Where can I pick this up...I don't imagine it would be too tough to install in a few hours.

I know, it sucks that we don't get that, it's becoming really quite the fad in cars these days..

then again, my understanding is that the STI in euro markets costs upwards of $50-60k in US Dollars

Have you taken a look at this thread where we are discussing why we would pick the EVO over the STI or the STI or the EVO:

2008 STI vs. 2008 EVO GSR

I have almost gone to the darkside severl time, but I know I would be back in the subaru thing and regret going to the evo.

So because I am asking my fellow subaru enthusiasts to help bring me back to my feet because I am getting discouraged by the 08 is me starting ****?

And yes, I plan to go on the forums and post a thread over in the EVO X section to get the rundown on current issues.

I wouldn't go evo XIII or IX -- buddies of mine have those, and besides, I like the new look of the evo X's. I would never go srt-4, I'll die first. I had an 06 WRX that was heavily modified, so going to an 07 or 06 STI would just be like going back to the same car for me.

I currently own a Evo X for about a month and a half now and here are some real unbiased views that i have for the car so far...

+ Amazing handling on wet or dry pavement..
+ Little bit of throttle enduced oversteer when throttle is pushed on hard corners.. (So far my experence is limited to this with the traction control on.. not brave enough to push it that hard with traction off)
+ Seats support
+ Steering feel (feels pretty organic in its nature.. the faster the car is pushed the better the steering feels)
+ Despite its weight if feels lighter on its feet in the twisties (3600lb)
+ Positive shifting/feel when warm
+ Get a lot of looks from people (Mostly guys... most girls have no idea what it is LOL)
+ Keylessness (comes in handy more than you think)
+ Power on freeway

- Trunk space
- Notchy shifting when cold (for the first 5 mins of driving 1-2-3 shifting is notchy if done too fast.. goes away once warm and actually shifts better when the RPM's are high- Should be a TSB for it soon.. rumor is its the factory fluid sucks)
- Cheaper interior
- No bluetooth support on GSR models (however there is a How-To for it now)
- Smell clutch on some hilly takeoffs or 3-point turns
- Sometimes there is a pulsating idle.. computer map? (I think there will be a TSB for it soon)
- 19 MPG real world MPG (70% city 30% highway)
- HID's are part of a pkg..
- No sexy exhaust note like the STi

+/- Runs EXTREMELY rich (Could be good for Mods to lean it out [explans mod potential]and bad for MPG)

No pedals breaking LOL
Very light surface rust on muffler

Now these are some of the things I noticed.. I have never driven a STi so I can't compare the two but this is what drew me to the Evo. No FLAMING me and keep it on the OP topic!

Thanks! -Syr00
One of the only posts with substance in this thread! Thanks so much for your time to list all of those. How is mitsubishi handling the rust issue? And the syncro issue?

I am going down to drive an EVO X at a dealership today, I'll post back with what I think. All of the performance aspects seem to draw me in -- I hear the handling and how you can induce perfect oversteer is just absolutely unreal.

The utility factor of the hatch is awsome, the seats are extremely comfortable and why are you worried about the radio in a rally/race car? It does not matter how much you spend on a stereo, the acoustic environment of these cars (STi and EVO) were not designed for music. If music and paint are your primary concerns you should be considering a Lexus, infinity or any other car with backward priorities. By the way, why is EVO the dark side? STi's and EVO's are both great cars purchased by people with similar desires.
I don't know how long you've been active in the subaru community for, but although still respected, to a lot of people the evo's would be considered the darkside - they are our arch rivals. I'm sure you know that, but its not like I am saying they are bad. Consider it a metaphor.

Yea, the hatch is something I really want but...I would rather a car that has its engine and tranny in a working condition. I'm going to take a look at one today so I will get a feel for their seats and interior feel. I dunno...I really wanted a hatch so...

Where did you get the idea that sound and paint were my primary concerns? I drove a WRX setup for track until recently. Sue me for wanting a nice sound system, after owning a wrx, that might happen.

Well a couple of years ago I took a test drive in an evo. First of all I was trading in a cobra...it was fast, but I had heard evos were faster. I got in the evo and went to reverse out of the dealer lot. The flat top of the shifter came off in my hand...I look over at the salesman and he said don't worry we can glue it back on.. well I proceed down the road and stepped on the gas....the push back in your seat feeling just wasn't there. Wasn't impressed ! Well I drove a 2005 sti a few weeks later and well I own it now. Big difference in torque and quality... a few issues along the way because it was preowned(clutch, rear struts, aftermarket intercooler piping had leaks)...but overall I'm glad I stayed away from the Evo !! Bigger displacement = Sti pulls harder !!
