For the upload of the new map to occur, the test connectors need to be connected. Unless there is a difference with the 08's that I am not considering. I don't have my manual in front of me, take a look in there, I *think* it covers connected v. disconnected.

green connectors needs to be connected to load a base map ONLY, real time maps do not involve them

So off the shelf Cobb maps are basemaps (I believe, never used hem), so you need the green conneteors to be together.

Once you have a pro-tune, your tuner most likely have your map as a real-time map loaded over a base map, so green connectors are not needed

HASTIHatch, look at the PDF that was linked here and look at the vehicles it lists that it supports. The 08 STi is not in that list. The Users Manual that came with my AP for my 08 does not require the connection of the green wires at all. I successfully flashed stage 1 without connecting these wires, per the instructions that came with my AP.

If you've purchased an AP open up the disk it came with and there is a users manual on that disk.

I was gonna say, if my base map flash didn't work, my car sure warmed up after break in

I am pretty good at reading/following instructions and I never hooked up any wires prior to using mine.

Good call, thanks, forgot about the base/real-time difference!

The 2008 STI does not need the green test connectors to be connected to flash a base map.
Period.

Thanks for this very helpful information, Digital. Are you able to explain why this is the case? I just ask, since I see that in the PDF for Cobb's explanation of installing the AP, it calls for the green test connectors. Why might they have said that in that manual versus what we should be doing for our STI? Is it that that manual is for, say, just regular WRXs? I just like to understand these kinds of things. Thanks.
