That is probably a true statement ONLY if you disregard real world considerations like the cost of the vehicle. Dollar for dollar, I think the comparison shows the MS3 compares favorably to the STi.

Per GilMikalian's calculations as shown in post #129.

Based on R&T #'s using the EEFF formula...

STI: 98.95
MS3: 99.71
EvoX GSR: 100.52
M3 Sdn: 101.49

Gary

Again, the formula ONLY means certain things to certain people. The price of the vehicle (if within $5k ~$10k) doesn't matter to me.

The Mazda is cheaper and has better gas mileage, but the STi is more and has better performance. Remove cost and your left with better gas mileage or better performance...!

But, then we should talk about capability. Since the STI is AWD it inherently will get worse MPG than the Mazda, yet with a tune, you can get within a few MPGs.

You CAN drive on the highway and get good gas mileage if need be, but you cannot get the performance or AWD capability in the Mazda with a pedal.

I'll forgo a few MPG to have superior performance. Though, I really wish Subaru would go DFI soon, making this argument moot.

If you go shopping with your girlfriend and have a chance to take some photos, would you post them or email them?

I'll bring the camera and take some shots while test driving one. I'll probably own the MS3 within the next three weeks. My gf's current car must go! I'll have to go to a dealership where the cars are out front. The Mazda dealership I went to near my office has one in the showroom only. The rest are behind a fence on the back lot. What kills me is that in the Google Maps shot of my house, only my gf's car is in the driveway!
